What's up, my fellow fanfiction-ers? I know I haven't done anything for a long time. I'm sorry. I had stuff.
Rey looked up from the part she was cleaning, noting the uneasiness in the camp around her. During her time, she had gotten very skilled in knowing the mood in the air. Several people glanced up towards the east.
The scavenger fought to keep a smile off her face. Sandstorm.
A gigantic wall of sandy yellow advanced towards the camp. She needed to free herself before it got there. She reached down and held her hand over the leg chain. It unlocked by itself, freeing Rey to run to shelter.
But the scavenger had no intention of getting shelter.
She leapt up and ran–straight into the wall of sand, disappearing in the storm.
Grains of sand whipped around her as she pushed farther into the sandstorm, searching for something. Her mind went out, looking intently for that one spot, that one place where that one person was waiting, the one person that could bring her relief…
Something pulled on her mind, and she instantly recognized it as benign. The scavenger turned towards the presence, a shield forming around her, close to the skin, to keep away the sand particles. The wind whipped around her, pushing her alternately towards and away from her goal.
An hour passed before she reached the meeting place. No one seemed to be here, to the untrained eye. But she reached into the Force and threw her hands out, and the sand parted.
It seemed to be in the shape of an eye - Rey at one end, her visitor at the other. He was tall, with icy sapphire eyes and a black cape flowing out behind him. A commanding look was on his face, his back straight and his figure towering over the girl. But she was unafraid. She smiled at him, trying to keep herself from running into his arms. She didn't want to break the spell.
Her visitor knelt down. "You ready?" Rey nodded. He held out his arms and Rey ran into them.
"I missed you!" she squealed.
He laughed. "I know, Rey. I missed you too. But we have to get to training."
"Oo! What are we gonna do today?"
"You'll see. Now come on, we've got a long way to go to the Afterlife."
Rey nodded. "Okay, Grandpa. Let's go."
