As Dominique walked down the stairs she could have sworn that she smelled something burning. When she got half way down the stairs she stopped and sniffed again; confirming that something was indeed burning or already burnt.
Dominique ran the rest of the way downstairs and rushed to the kitchen, she threw open the kitchen door and looked on in surprise at the sight before her.
Teddy was standing over a burnt meal; he had a look of distress on his face and was shaking his head at the food by him.
Dominique cleared her throat and Teddy whirled around startled. Upon seeing her there he blushed furiously and stammered slightly.
"What happened Teddy?" Dominique asked.
"I...I was; I was trying to cook breakfast for you and well um it kind of burnt." Teddy finished blushing slightly and rubbing the back of his head the way he normally did when he was embarrassed.
Dominique couldn't help but smile at him in amusement; she walked closer to him and gave him a light kiss on the lips. "That was a very sweet gesture." she said clearly amused.
"I burnt it though," Teddy said.
"It's the thought that counts." Dominique told him. Looking at the burnt breakfast she blinked as she saw that it was eggs.
"Teddy, I know that it's the thought that counts but how could you burn eggs?" Dominique asked.
