A Shift in the Pattern
"He is born again!" Gitara cried. "I feel him! The Dragon takes his first breath on the slope of Dragonmount! He is coming! He is coming! Light help us! Light help the world! He lies in the snow and cries like the thunder! He burns like the sun!"
As the words left her mouth, Gitara felt her soul letting go of the body she had held, and her task now done she tried to smile at the young Accepted staring at her in astonishment; but her lips would no longer comply. Gitara let go and her soul departed, passing through what some called the World of Dreams and moving beyond. As she passed away to wait again something brushed her, ever so slightly disturbing her path. She no longer had any concerns for the place she had been, nor did she care for where she was going; only feeling satisfaction that her task had been completed.
Reaching out from the darkness, he brushed something. Suddenly memories flooded into him, of a childhood, adolescence, becoming a Servant and discovering he could foretell. Wait, no, he could not foretell. Slowly he sorted through the memories and realised what they were. His time must be coming if he was able to touch them. They were beginning to fade, but before they went one of them caught his attention. 'He is born again! I feel him! The Dragon takes his first-' the memory dissipated, joining the others in the darkness. So; the time had come. Lews Therin had finally returned. Laughing maniacally to himself he began to strain, heaving himself forward and reaching out. One of his servants was there; he felt it. Slowly he reached out and touched it with his mind, sending his thoughts, giving the servant its instructions. 'Find him' he thought.
Gasping, he snapped back, but not as far as he'd been before. It was weakening again, for the third and final time releasing him back into the world. He smiled in anticipation. The Dragon would serve or die, and this time he had no Hundred Companions to aid him. This time the Wheel would be Broken, and he would rule for a time before the end. It was only logical. Laughing, he fell back into his dreamless sleep.
