You're Not Sorry

Eleanor shivered in the cold as snowflakes drifted all over her. Tears burning her eyes she spun around glaring at the restaurant behind her. "Not again." She muttered. She dragged her feet through the snow as she made it over to a bench. For a long period of time she stared out into the street analyzing past events.

Maybe he just doesn't love me anymore and is too much of a chicken to say it to my face. she thought sadly. Was it something I did or said perhaps? Was another thought of hers. Should I call him? Would he answer?

I have so many questions! I'll probably never get answers to…

The Chipette ran her fingers over her phone "He won't be sorry." She whimpered. "I just know it. I'm done. I can't take the disappointment anymore!"

I loved him so much. I just can't believe it… but I have to be strong. A boy doesn't make my whole universe. Just like Brittany said.

Eleanor winced at the thought of Brittany's reaction. She would either be sympathetic or mock how she was right all along. She just hoped and prayed she wouldn't be too obnoxious about it when she told her.

Standing up slowly she made it to her car.

As rich hot chocolate poured into Ellie's penguin mug Brittany glanced up at her with conflicted eyes "I hate to say this-"

Eleanor scoffed "I know- I told you so. And no you don't"

She sighed sitting across from the youngest sister "That's not true." She said softly. "You're my sister Ellie, I'm here for you."

Eleanor cocked an eyebrow at this comment. "Since when did you become so sympathetic about my relationship with Alvin? I thought you hated him."

"I do. But I also know how much you loved him." Brittany said in a firm but caring voice. "Honestly Eleanor, he didn't deserve you. You can, and will, do so much better." She paused to examine her sister's reaction "It is best to forget that little furball."

"Perhaps you're right…" Eleanor agreed sipping off her cocoa.

Brittany cracked a grin "Aren't I always?"

Eleanor rolled her eyes playfully "Sure. Whatever you say."

She chuckled a little and then fell serious again "But you do here me, right Ellie? You do understand, that these type of things happen."

"Crystal clear- mom."

"I'm just trying to be here for you."

"I know. And I thank you for not rubbing it in my face, and handling the situation like a civilized chipmunk."

"It was hard. But anytime little sis, anytime."

Eleanor smiled standing up and giving Brittany a hug "You're the best big sister- no matter what others say."

Brittany's loving grin turned to a serious grin "What do others say?"

The two sisters stared at each other for a few quiet seconds and then broke out into laughter racing one another to their room.
