Her life ended quietly and peacefully. The whole time, she tried to keep the sweet smile on her face, and the warmth of everybody in her heart. Because to her, the only thing that mattered was for the people close to her to remain happy and together.

And Akaito, determined to carry her wish out for her, still would feel departed wife's secure presence and gentle, uplifting spirit near him all the time, lightly tapping him on the shoulders telling him to lift his chin up, and to carry on and to smile and love everything the way she had.

She lived a fairly short life, he thought, but it was one that filled his own life with immense joy and meaning. He was thankful enough to be able to stand by her side, to have been the one to help her though tough times, and to be able to dig out the true joyful, generous spirit underneath the once sad, insecure girl she once was.

Akaito knew that Haku was up somewhere, giving the sky its color.

The way it shone even more vividly after she had passed away seemed like more than a coincidence, to him. There were moments when the sky shone in vivid streaks of crimson, mingling together with a beautiful lavender-indigo that reminded Akaito of Haku, her humble and soft kind of beauty, her thoughtful sensitivity. Akaito has never seen the sky like this while Haku was still with her, and it was a breathtaking sight. He was sure that Haku would've loved this sky more than anything, if she were still alive.

But then, Akaito thought that it was perhaps it was Haku up in the sky, thanking Akaito for being in her life for painting a picture of their two spirits in the sky together. The crimson and purple together gave off the exact feeling of a picture of the couple standing and smiling together.

Haku was simply somebody like no other. She spent her whole life hidden, only truly acknowledged to the people who were able to see her true beauty-and what a beauty she was. The way she died, she way she silently slipped away was as almost as still and soundless as her whole life.

But to the people who loved her, and who she loved back, everyone would agree their lives were blessed by her. It was subtle, yet unforgettable. Her kindness, gentleness, the way she wanted to help anybody in need, even when she was the one struggling.

She could never thank him enough, Akaito, nor anybody who had ever given her kindness. She loved everyone, but Akaito was her one true love. All the little things they did together became something more. From friends until they were lovers, Akaito was the one who repaired Haku's wings. And in return, she gave to him her boundless love.

Haku Yowane was a true angel.
