Introduction
An Abnormal Day
I walked out of the bus after a rather long and frustrating day at school. The day was filled with ignorant pricks who don't know when to shut up and leave me alone, hell they called ME childish when clearly they're the ones who are acting that way. But that's how it's always been for me. I'm to blame, and I take the pain. I hated that, so very much. As the cold winter wind brushed against my face, I wondered. Will this ever stop? Like seriously, I don't deserve any of this...
I walked across the street towards my grandma's van, who picked me up nearly daily during the wintertime. We waited for my younger brother to get out of school, and even though she tried talking to me I said very few words. I've never been much of a talker, you have to be a really special case for me to actually have a decent conversation with you. Finally, around 3:30 he came outside when the other car riders and got in, then we headed home to our apartment. When we got there, I took off my jacket and threw myself on my bed. Opening my laptop, I prepared to say a randomly generated greeting to my friends on Skype, fresh from the brain. A few moments after I clicked the red 'Do Not Disturb' button, I saw that I had 75 notifications; 73 from my normal chatroom, 1 from a friend, and... 1 from someone named "SecretUser". I was tempted to see who they were, but at the same time scared... what if they want to murder me or something?
My impatience got the better of me and I clicked it, revealing a chat page showing an icon with a picture of some butterflies and a status reading "...". Huh, maybe this isn't all that bad after all. I thought. After a few seconds the message loaded up, and it was... confusing to be honest.
Are you the one named Austin? It read, creeping me out a bit. I typed back a "yes" curiously. A moment later it showed that SecretUser was typing and I awaited the response with slight fear. My friends told me that you are the only one that can understand me... is this true? Now this was where things started to get really weird.
"Uh, maybe, I don't know? I don't even know you..." I typed back in response. A few minutes passed with no reply. I got impatient and decided to check Twitter while I waited. The instant the site loaded, my Skype showed a [1] and I eagerly clicked it. The user said, I'm so sorry that I have to leave so soon, but something came up. I'll meet with you at lunch tomorrow, okay? This put me in complete and utter shock. This guy... or girl, whatever, thinks they'll see me at school? If they go there, how did they find my Skype and get on my contacts list without me accepting a request? It was all so strange, but I wasn't about to argue with it at that moment. Shrugging it off as some stupid joke, I typed back "okay" and the user went offline.
For the rest of the day, I played some Mega Man games on an emulator to try and get things off my mind. Of course, knowing me, a break wasn't going to happen as much as I tried to get one, and what happened the next day proved that even further.
Author notes:
This story is mostly an experiment for what I might do in the future, but I decided to try and do one where the main character is basically, well, me. Constructive criticism is appreciated, and so are kind words. Hope you'll find enjoyment in this!
