"What happened to you?"

Katara stared at Zuko. "What?"

"Look at you," he said quietly. "You're smiling at people who hate you, making small talk with people who tried to kill you…"

"It's called diplomacy," Katara snapped. "You should try it sometime. Now if you'll excuse me, I should be getting back to Aang."

"What happened to you?" Zuko asked again, his voice still low. "What happened to the girl who stood up to the most powerful man in the world armed with only basic waterbending skills, a boomerang, and a twelve year old? What happened to the girl who froze me inside a giant ball of ice? What happened to the girl who never backed down from a fight, who threatened me, who fought me, who once offered to heal me? What happened to your fire, Katara, your spark? What happened to you?"

Katara looked away, and then looked back. Her face a calm, expressionless mask, she said, "I grew up."

Zuko released his grip on her arm and moved aside. Katara swept past him and headed towards Aang, who greeted him with a kiss. She never looked back.

After a moment, Zuko turned and made his way back to Mai and Iroh. He didn't look back either.

Toph watched from the shadows and frowned. This wasn't right- none of it was right. And it looked like it was up to her to fix it.
