So. This is my first fic...and it's really short...and honestly not that good...but hey, why not post it, what else would I do with it? But yeah, I do not own Steven Universe or any of its characters and whatnot.

Peridot was an engineer. Like all the other peridots out there, she was created for the sole purpose of fixing things. It wasn't that she didn't like her job, no she loved it. She loved to fix things, to put them back in order. She loved the neatness and structure of her job and the whole of Homeworld as a whole. She had never thought there was anything else that would ever appeal to her as much as that order, that structured normalness. That is, until she arrived on Earth. The quaint blue planet had something she had never experienced before. The wind. Other planets had winds, breezes and the like, but those were strictly controlled by Homeworld. On Earth, nothing was ordered, structured, or even normal, at least by her standards. At first she hated it. She couldn't understand it and she didn't try, until a certain little boy and blue gem showed her more. They taught her freedom and emotion, and nothing was freer than the wind. The wind was random and wild, the opposite of her structured existence. It was varied and changing, between the gusts of a storm and the breeze of the sea. It reminded her of everything that was out there, everything that she could be. She wasn't just a peridot engineer anymore, she was Peridot, Crystal Gem, free as the wind.
