Hey everybody! I just thought this up one night so I decided to share it on here! Good reviewers will get a choice of chocolate cake, or a sparkly cupcake! :)

It was a sunny early autumn day. I was working the usual shift at the DX with my best pal Sodapop Curtis, of course I was working on fixing the hood of a blue mustang while Soda, of course, was being surrounded by greaser, and soc girls all alike.

I always knew that Soda the handsome one, the one girls always wanted to be with, the one the guys always wanted to be, but me, I was that one puzzle piece that didn't fit, I mean Soda being the center, while all the girls were surrounding him, then I finally fit, but only fit into the corner part of the puzzle.

I could never be jealous of Sodapop Curtis. He's been my pal since grade school.

"Class, last but not least here is our new friend." Miss. Jones said to the class.

All of the kids in the class were introducing themselves being the first day of kindergarten. Soda came up to introduce himself like the rest of the kids.

He was wearing one of his best shirts, a crisp white button down with black dress pants and matching shoes. His hair was moussed and parted trying to look his best. Sodapop's eyes sparkled like his nice smile to let the children know that he was their friend.

"My name is Sodapop Curtis." Sodapop said to the children like how he rehearsed with his Mother.

All the kids burst into laughter. Soda lost his sparkly eyes, and his smile deflated like a balloon.

"What flavor?" Bobby Sheldon screamed out.

That made everyone laughs even louder. Miss. Jones clapped her hands very loudly.

"Class! Quiet down! That was very rude! Another action like that will lead to no recess for anyone!"

The children silenced. The only ones who weren't laughing were me, and a girl names Sherri.

I knew that I and Soda had a lot in common, not being like the other kids because we're not as fortunate as them.

I found Sodapop hiding behind a tree playing by himself with a toy truck. He made no noises, or smashed it like how I did. I sat down beside him.

"That's a cool truck! It looks just like that one right there!" I said pointing to a teacher's car.

He looked up and smiled. I took out my toy cars; we played and played until we got called in. We sat next to each other at lunch, drew together in art, and then when the afternoon recess came by we were playing with our toy cars again.

At one point Mrs. Curtis came to pick up Soda and his older brother Darrell whom he told us to call him Darry.

"Ma this is Steve! He's my new best friend!"

Mrs. Curtis had long hair that was tied up in a tight bun, her eyes were just like Soda's and her smile as well, I could tell they were related.

"Hi hon!" She said to me cheerfully.

"Hello mam!" I replied.

"Please call me Mrs. Curtis!" She offered. She then offered me a ride home.

Me and Sodapop hit it off real well. Sodapop will always be my best friend. Under the entire energetic guy, you can still see that shy six year old I met on the first day of school.

I could never be jealous of Sodapop Curtis.
