Disclaimer: I don't own anything, only my imagination.

This was a little fic written during Latin class.

Takes place after the game. So there's a spoiler-risk. Just so you know.

"Hey! How are you doing? Me? Oh, I'm great. I have a new hobby. I collect beads. And I'm growing my hair so I can braid them in. You remember how you told me you thought long hair would look great on me? I decided to go for it. And the beads because you told me they bring good luck. I really believe it, you know? But only because you said it."

She smiles at the silence that greets her. She knows he never really was a talker.

"Anyway, still trying to get Yunie to smile. She's really depressed. I can't really blame her, I loved Tidus too. Well, you know, not the way she did, obviously. Don't worry, big guy. You're still my number one."

She grins, expecting a dry remark or brush-off. There's no reply, however.

"Well, you can at least say something, meanie, I came all this way! Fine, be that way. I don't expect you to blurb out all your feeling all of a sudden. I know how you feel about the mushy parts of life."

She smiles again, her eyes shining.

"I have a question, by the way. Despite the fact you're not much of a joker, you always made me laugh one way or the other. I'll never get that. How did you do that? I guess it's just something about you, huh?"

Still nothing.

She huffs indignantly.

"This just sucks, you know? I mean, why do you never answer me? There's nobody else here. You don't have to hide anything. Not from me."

Still nothing.

"You remember that time when we were in Guadosalam? All the Guados just looked at me like I was the scum of the earth. One of them even spit my way. I cried. And you just held me close to you. Do you remember that? I really need to thank you for that one more time. I always felt so safe with you. Especially after that."

She shyly plays with a strand of hair, biting her lip and shuffling on her feet.

"And that time on the Airship? I suppose you think that night was a mistake, because I was mourning my home, and you were supposed to be the adult and everything. But you gave me something I'll never forget, and I want to thank you for that, too. Really. I don't regret anything about it. I hope you don't either." - she pauses – "You don't, do you?"

Not a word.

"I need you, you know? You complete me in this certain way I can't really explain. You keep me on the right track. Or something."

Silence.

"Hey…"

Nothing.

"Why won't you answer me?!"

No response.

When she realises her fists are clenched in anger she jumps in surprise and relaxes immediately. She smiles apologetically as she plays with the lace of her shorts in an embarrassed way.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to shout. I think I should really say what I came here to say. It's not like anything will change. I don't think you'll ever answer me, anyway."

She takes a deep breath as her green orbs fill up. Her voice is shaky.

"I'm just gonna say it. I'll do it fast. Are you listening? Right, you're not going to say anything. Okay, here goes…"

A single tear slides gracefully down her cheek as she stares at the sword, his sword, standing tall and proud in the rock-hard holy grounds of Zanarkand. There's no one in sight.

"Goodbye."

That was it. Sad, huh?
