A young boy lay on his back under a large oak tree, staring into the sky through the branches. Watching white clouds float lazily by. A owl flew by but the boy didn't pay it any mind until it landed beside him and dropped a letter onto his stomach.
"Is this for me?" the boy asked, sitting up, the letter held in his right hand. The owl ruffled its feathers and flew off.
The boy stared at the large yellowish envelope -- surely it wasn't what he thought it was? Slowly, he turned the envelope over. On the purple seal there was a snake, a badger, a lion and a raven interwound with a large letter H. He opened the envelope and read the letter.
A smile slowly formed on his face. With a yell and a whoop of joy, the boy jumped to his feet and ran towards a small house a short ways away.
"I got in! I got in! I'm goin' to Hogwarts!" the boy yelled as he ran to his house. His Father opened the door before he got there.
"What? What's wrong?!"
"I got in Da! Look!" the boy thrust the letter at his father who took it and read quickly.
He too broke into a smile and yelled, "Martha! Martha, come here! He got in!"
The boys mother soon appeared in the door way behind his father.
"Dan, what are yeh' goin' on abou'?"
"Look! He got in! Our boy is goin' to Hogwarts!" the boys father exclaimed, shoving the letter to his wife.
She took the letter from his hand and read it, but more slowly that the other two had. Through a smile matching her sons, she said,
"Dan, I hav'ta clean the house! They're sendin' sum'un over to discuss his condition!"
The boy, who had started to do a jig when he had handed over the the letter to his dad, wasn't listening.
All he knew was that he was going to Hogwarts despite being a werewolf and become a wizard. Just like his Da'.
