In the end, he was alone.

In his life he struggled for every small gain.

As his father said, he was lucky to be born.

But that's where his luck ended.

First burned and sent into exile by his own father.

Hunting down a boy and his friends, burning anything that got in his way.

Eventually he stopped and just began to wander, lost and on the run.

Then betrayed someone whom he could have been very close to and the person he considered to be like his father, all for a chance for his real father to look at him again.

It would not last.

He would betray his friends, family, and the girl whom loved him to try to settle the inner turmoil inside himself.

He would go to the enemy and train the Avatar.

He was not welcomed.

The girl whom he could have been friends with was there, and she did not forgive him.

No one did.

While he was in their group, he was not part of the group.

He was a traitor.

They were all fighting for their homes against a common enemy.

That enemy was his home, his people.

In the final battle they saw it as going against the main enemy. He saw it as going against his father and sister.

His sister.

She was twisted and cunning, but in her own way, she loved her brother just as he still loved her in his own way. But that love did not translate to forgiveness or mercy for either one of them.

While his father viewed his as a failure and worthless.

Both of them would have no qualms about killing him.

The battle was fierce, both sides loosing good fighters.

He saw his sister get hit by a slab of steal. Her body maimed and crumpled as she lay bleeding to death, gasping for air.

His moments distract would cost him.

His father took the opportunity to remove him from the fight.

He felt the flames char his flesh, burning and melting his cloths and skin.

He couldn't scream or cried out, the flames had traveled down his throat.

He didn't know how long he lay there dying. The battle was one by the avatar and his friends.

All the Avatar's friends made it through the battle alive, except for him. But he wasn't one of his friends.

He lay there forgotten on the floor.

Next to him he could still hear the labored breathing of his dying sister. Or was she already dead and that was the sound of his breathing?

The world started to go black and he fought against the spots in front of his eyes.

The sound of labored breathing had stopped and now there was only silence in the room.

Blurry vision scanned the room.

He could see the Avatar and his friends tending to their wounded, but none came over to him.

As the darkness closed in around him he thought that this was a fitting end.

Dying alone, burnt to death. The fire prince who betrayed his people.

No matter how he might have justified his actions, he still betrayed his people and his family.

Closing his eyes for the last time, he struggled feebly as the darkness took him.

His body slumped to the ground, never to get up again. Next to the battered form of his fallen sister and father.

His passing unnoticed by anyone in the room.

In the crowd of people that filled the room, he died alone.

Unnoticed by anyone, the boy who struggled all his life passed on never gaining the recognition or love he was so desperately grasping for.

But in the end, he finally found peace.
