I was going for a walk in the woods behind my house. It wasn't far. Nowhere is far from the woods in Forks. It was a warm, sunny day, and my mom made me get out of the house and get some exercise. I was on one of my favorite trails when I saw something up ahead on the path. I could just barely make out a tangled mass of what looked like reddish brown fur, but not muck more than that, because it was… sparkling. It was lying in a mote of light that made it through the trees, and it was the most brilliant thing I had ever seen. It nearly blinded me. I was afraid to approach it, and I knew that if it was a wild animal, (although I admit there was no animal I had ever heard of that sparkled like diamonds) the worst thing I could do would be to sneak up on it and surprise it. So I walked quickly, (I didn't run, I fall down a lot when I do that) back to my house. My dad Charlie was home and he went camping a lot, so he knew about animals. I walked through the door and into the living room, where Charlie could usually be found watching some game on TV. He must have seen how tense I was, because he immediately asked,
"What's up Bella?"
"Dad, I found something on the trail."
"What was it?" he asked.
"I don't really know. It had some fur on it, but it, umm, sparkled," I said, suddenly realizing how implausible that sounded. It looked like he didn't believe me, but apparently he decided to humor me.
"Renee," he called up to my mother, "Bells is going to show me something shiny in the woods. I'll be back soon." I harrumphed, annoyed that he wasn't taking me seriously. He made a big show of putting his hiking boots on, with lots of sighing to indicate that he would rather be watching sports, but we finally got out the front door.
I started down the path I had taken before. The woods seemed a lot darker. I looked up. I could see through the trees that it had clouded over. It actually made the forest seem kind of gloomy and depressing. I trudged (or more like stumbled) on, with Charlie in tow. When I arrived at the spot I had seen it before, I was confused. I saw a dark lump on the ground, but nowhere was the diamond-like brilliance I had seen before. But then I came to realize I had more pressing matters. As I looked at it some more, the dark lump began to take shape. I could make out two arms, two legs, some very pale skin, and that mass of tangled brown… hair. Not fur, hair. I gasped.
"Oh my god!" I yelled to myself mostly, but also to Charlie. "It's a boy!"
I'll bet that you can guess who. Please review. This is only my second fanfic. Should I continue?
