This was inspired by my drama class. We were required to create a scene with a partner using only the lines... well, you'll see. (Note: I don't mean the italicized lines) Enjoy!

You're Late
The distant chime of the clock tower broke through the silence of the park, alerting its single occupant that it was officially midnight. The figure readjusted his hood in agitation, the movement finally revealing his seemingly invisible presence.
Leaning against a tree, the blond immersed himself in his own tumbling thoughts. Roxas knew what he was doing was dangerous. In his society, a relationship with another man was considered a sin, a crime, and a trip to the asylum with the rest of the non-conformers.
If anyone asked Roxas's teachers for their opinion of the boy, they would get similar results:
"He's such a good student, if not a little lazy sometimes."
"He's quiet, but he gets along with everyone."
"Roxas has never broken any rule to my knowledge. He'd be the last one I'd suspect of something."
So then why was he waiting in the dark to meet someone privately for the first time? Roxas felt he honestly had something. His friends had always teased him that he had no heart. He had never been interested in dating, nor had any girl caught his eye. Not that any man had either, it was more that Roxas had never been romantically interested.
Until he met him. Roxas couldn't call it romance because never had there been a courting of the other. Love... love was such a strong word. He couldn't use that. Not yet. No... it felt more like he'd found someone who completed a part of him he didn't know was missing. He said he felt the same.
But if that was the case, then why had Roxas been waiting for over a half an hour by himself in the dark?
The clock struck again, and the blond noted that it had now been forty-five minutes. Silence did not return, however. The sound of footsteps alerted the blond of another person's presence, and for a moment fear filled him. What if... what if he had merely set him up? What if this was someone sent to take him away? Would he be locked up because of one person? The footsteps came to a stop, and blue eyes quickly shifted to take in the newcomer. No... Roxas knew that lanky silhouette.
It was Axel.
"You're late." Roxas didn't intend to sound so cold, but he was still on edge.
"I know. I couldn't help it." The red head was attempting to suppress his panting. Roxas refrained from rolling his eyes and chose to look away instead. How typical of Axel; run to his destination, then slow down to attempt to make a cool and confident entrance. "Have you been waiting long?"
"You know I have."
Axel winced slightly at the sharp reply. He should have known better. It was worth a try, but with Roxas it was best to get straight to the point. "I have something for you."
"What?"
"This."
When Axel gave no more indication as to what "this" was, Roxas finally turned to look at the man again. His gaze fell immediately onto the single red rose held before him. He smiled softly as he accepted it, the tension evaporating.
No more words were necessary between the two. There were no doubts, no misunderstandings, no fear. Roxas knew he would wait a week in the dark just to spend time with Axel like this.

As I said, those were the only words we were allowed to use. Back and forth, just like that. Sure, my little cowboy scene didn't inspire this but I thought it was very appropriate. And it made my beta giggle.
Thank you so much for reading!
