Vio sighed as he had another bout of insomnia. He tossed and turned in his bed, only to give up after half-an-hour of doing so. Carefully, Vio got out of bed and tip-toed out of the door, making sure to not wake up his four companions. He sighed again as he proceeded down the stairs, lighting some of the candles in the room. Raking his fingers through blond locks, the teenaged Hylian sat down on the couch and started to read his book.
An hour or two later, the creak of the bedroom door alerted the blond to someone else being awake. Vio marked his spot and turned his head to the newcomer. It was Red, rubbing his eyes sleepily as he smiled a little. He seemed hesitant about something, which concerned Vio.
"Something bothering you, Red?" he asked softly, putting down his book. Red looked down and shuffled his feet ashamedly.
"I…had a bad dream. Shadow did, too, but he wouldn't admit it," Red murmured. Everything about him told Vio that it must have been really bad. He got up off of the couch and smiled encouragingly to his friend.
"Would you like to talk about it?" the other blond shook his head fiercely, "Then…you get into bed and I'll try to get you to sleep with no more bad dreams for tonight."
Red hesitated, but consented by returning to their room. Shadow was in bed, pretending he was asleep. Vio could tell, since his breathing pattern gave him away. Still, he was willing to ignore that. He was confident that he could get them both to sleep.
Vio tucked the smaller blond into the bed he (Red) shared with Blue. Then, he sat at the edge and pretended to give some thought to how he was going to get them to sleep.
Okay…I just need to remember the beat and flute accompaniment. He thought before closing his eyes. Vio then started to sing softly, so as not to awaken Green and Blue. The melody was enchanting and relaxing to all of them. Even the sleeping ones seemed to completely relax as they unconsciously listened to Vio's song. It was a fairly simple lullaby and could go on for forever. Luckily, Vio didn't need to do that.
After the third time through, Red had finally nodded off to sleep, a contented smile on his face. Shadow was also starting to drift into slumber, but he waited for Vio to return to their shared bed. The black-haired Link didn't need to wait long when he felt an added weight to the bed and the soft shuffle of the covers. Shadow rolled over and embraced Vio sleepily.
"You sing…beautifully," he murmured before succumbing to sleep. Vio was surprised, to say the least, but he was also very pleased. He smiled softly and gave a gentle, chaste kiss on Shadow's forehead. A few minutes later, and Vio had joined his friends in the realm of dreams.
