I stood in the crowd, l waited as the old women drew the names. I waited and waited. I didn't want to be called, but unfortunately I was.
"Oz barrel," Is the name that had been called. Everyone looked at me as I walked towards the stage. My breathing became ragged, my body felt numb, my mouth couldn't move. I was panicking; I couldn't do this, I was only a 14 year old girl!
"Ty shamana," The lady said, fear spread through my whole body.
"There must be a mistake!" I screeched as he stood in front of me on stage, a grin on his face.
"No, no mistake," Ty said devilishy.
"Shake hands," said the lady; I stepped back. I didn't wanna shake hands with him. Of all people, why him? He hated me, I hated him! Ty grinned and walked towards me, grabbing me by my arm.
"Shake hands darling," He said sternly, I tried pulling away he didn't let go. Finally, he let go as the peacekeepers led us away from each other, the crowd, and everything. We were being isolated in little rooms- they were nice. Comfortable, but this was just some bitter sweet treat they let us have before we were shipped off to the capitol. We were made beautiful, then put into an arena to slaughter each other. I sat in the red chair that was in the room. I waited for my mom or dad or someone to come, yet no one came. I held my head high and kept myself from crying. Then finally, someone came.
"Hey… I'm sorry," The boy said. I had no clue who this man was, yet he was standing here- before me.
"Who are you?" I asked him, confused.
"Oh… you don't know me, but I just wanted to say-uh, how do I put this?" He stuttered for a minute, then continued, "I'm a grade higher then you and… I kind of watch you, and- I kind of have a bit of a crush on you," He said, I took a step back.
"You watch me?" I asked feeling a bit frightened. He had pretty deep blue eyes and brown hair; he was tall and slim. I was suddenly attracted to him. I bit my lower lip and smiled.
"Yeah- I guess I just wanted you to know-I'll be cheering for you out there," He said taking a step towards me. I took a step forward too and hugged him.
"You are a little weird, but you're the only one who said goodbye to me, so thank you." I whispered in his ear. We both smiled at each other for a while until the peacekeepers came back and took the boy away. I didn't even know his name….
