Takes place after The Southern Raiders right after when they moved to Ember Island. Oh and Iroh is with the group, just how my mind wanted it to be. This is based off of the movie Soul Surfer... gosh I love that movie.

Today the Gaang had decided to take a day off from training and enjoy the beach. Zuko thought that they (Aang) still needed to train but Katara and Iroh convinced him otherwise. Katara and Zuko had become closer than ever and Iroh had completely forgiven Zuko for his mistakes even though he was never really angry. All was peaceful and content.

Katara had agreed to teach Zuko how to surf after much persistence (and begging) on Zuko's part. They were out about a mile offshore and yet they could still hear Sokka's obnoxious chattering. Zuko caught his first wave when Aang and Sokka decided to come out and join them while Suki and Toph stayed behind. Katara and Aang and Katara were throwing friendly insults about surfing skills at each other while Sokka and Zuko chatted a few meters away.

(Sokka POV)

"Sokka I really dont wanna know what you and Suki do when your alone."

Zuko did not have an interest in my love life, which I can understand. But that didnt mean I wasn't going to bother him about his.

"So what about you my man, other then gloom and doom you left back at the prison who else do you have in mind?"

Zuko blushed when I said this and tried to play inocent with me.

"I-I-I dont know what your talking about." He stuttered.

"Oh come on, like I haven't noticed how you are around my sister." I decided to be blunt about it, no use being subtle.

He was blushing furiously now, "I- No I- Its not- I dont- Ugh fine!"

I laughed and he did too just to brush off the awkwardness. It was quiet for a moment, but a nice quiet. Katara yelled soemthing at me and I turned to look at her. As soon as I turned I heard a huge splash, and a crunch. A whipped my head back around only to see a lion-shark sinking back into the water and Zuko surrounded in blood.

(Katara POV)

I saw the black shape moving towards Zuko and Sokka but it was too late when I finally got Sokka's attention. I saw the whole thing happen, but what surprised me was that Zuko didn't even scream.

"Aang! Swim to shore and get Iroh!"

He nodded quickly sparing one last glance at Zuko before paddling to shore.

I swam over to Zuko and almost puked when I saw all the blood. I felt even more sick when I saw where the blood was coming from, his arm... or what was left of it anyway. Zuko straightened himself on the board and started paddling with his right arm. I paddled up beside him and pushed his board as I paddled trying to hellp him. Sokka was on the other side of him, still speechless and in shock but fortunately he knew that we had to get out of the water.

"Its going to be ok Zuko, just keep paddling." I encouraged.

"Get me to the beach, please." He said the last part in a whisper.

I saw a reef up ahead. If we could get him to the reef then we could pull him across and then it was just a short swim to shore. But we had to hurry, blood would just attract more lion-sharks... and Zuko would be the main course.
