Thankful
Summary: Mai never thought what she should be thankful for until Joey proves the fact he's her friend time again. She's more surprise by his visit with some food making her wonder how she earn such a good friend.
Reading her book a blonde woman wearing a simple pair of purple shirt and black pjama pants furrow her brows in thought. Who would thinking Mai Valentine would be lucky to have any friends? Even to the blonde she wonders how she been lucky to have such thing with her life. Alone for most of her childhood made her distrustful of people but Joey Wheeler manage to prove it to her its okay. Maybe it's a good thing to meet the blond goofball at Duelist Kingdom
Mai shakes her head wondering how her friend is doing. 'He's probably with his sister,' she thought then remember the call Serenity made several months earlier about Joey having a girlfriend which their mother likes but the younger girl doesn't. Apparently its the same with the gang which Mai clench her fist. 'I'm not jealousy of a twit,' She growls in her mind at the sound of knocking on her door.
She goes to the door opening it to find Joey standing there with a plate of food in his hands making her raise a brow as he states happily, "Hey Mai. Having a good thanksgiving?"
"Hello Joseph," She drawls earning a sigh while shrugging. "Had no idea its today. I thought you're with what's her name."
"Moni and I broken up a couple of days ago," Joey replies shrugging feeling a twinge of hurt at his ex-girlfriend and their argument.
The reason had to do with Mai as all their arguments from before. Does he really love Mai as his former girlfriend said he is? Sure she's his friend even though he knows the blond woman deserve someone better then him. Really thinking about Joey realize then he does love Mai and always have but is afraid what to do about it. For now he rather be her friend until there is any sign of her wanting more.
"So what are you here for?" Mai question breaking Joey from his thoughts trying not to sound to eager about the sight of the teen before her.
"Want to see if you want to hang out today," Joey replies giving a bashful smile holding the plate out to her earning a small blush which he finds cute on Mai.
"Sure," Mai said grinning as well knowing watching TV will lead to the usual argument but it be as friends will have. She is truly thankful to have a good friend as Joey by her side.
