Just a quick idea I've had for awhile and wanted to get out of the way,
Dedicated to Hunter Parrish, thanks for such an amazing performance!
"Alright, I'll meet you tomorrow? For lunch, how about that diner on Broad?"
Kit smiled as Mush gave her a goodbye kiss
"I would like that very much, thank you for such a joyous evening!"
She waved goodbye to the retreating newsie and walked home.
The moon was high in the sky, a full moon. It glowed brightly, just like her heart.
After all these years, had she finally met the one? A nice boy who wouldn't hurt her or only want her for her body?
Stop it, Kit, don't get your hopes up, he could turn out just like the others
"Kittridge! Where have you been!"
Kit smiled at her older sister, Clara.
"I met a boy, Clara!"
Clara thought about it for a moment, many boys had hurt Kit before and she had trouble coping with the grief,
"I'm sure he's lovely, Kit. But don't get your hopes up, I don't want to see your heart broken"
Kit smiled inwardly,
"I think he's different, Clara. I really do."
Mush, where are you!
She had been waiting by the diner on Broad Street for over an hour and her love had still not appeared.
He's just like the others. Takes what he wants and leaves you.
Kit couldn't hold back the tears as she ran away from the diner and back home. She hoped her sister would be there. She never wanted to see another boy again. She had felt a true connection with Mush too. Someone she wouldn't mind sharing the rest of her life with. He had betrayed her, and broke her heart.
He was just like the others, just like them.
Faster, Mush old boy, faster! She could be gone by now!
He sprinted for all he was worth, but it wasn't enough. By the time he reached the diner, she had already left.
The strike had cost Mush the girl he met last night. He was so busy fighting the scabbers he had forgotten all about Kit. Once Race reminded him, he realized his mistake. She was gone, she had left him, never to be seen again. The first and last girl he would ever feel a real connection with, his heart was broken.
She was gone forever.
