All the Time in the World

Even before Lee opened his eyes, he was smiling. He could feel Amanda curled next to him and marveled at how well their bodies fitted together. Ever so slightly he tightened his grip on her and grinned mischievously when he heard her softly protest and snuggle deeper into the covers. He reached over and pushed back a stray bit of her sable mane in order to get a better view of her magnificently beautiful face.

Lee pulled the spread away from her body and leaned up slightly on one elbow to study her more closely. He saw with some trepidation that he had left his mark on her, a suck bruise just above her collarbone. He was tempted to kiss it, but hesitated as he watched her peacefully sleeping face. She had been through so much in last few months and peaceful sleep for her came at a premium, so he decided not to disturb her.

Carefully, he turned onto his back and propped his head on his laced fingers. He sighed contentedly as he realized that he had an entire lifetime to disturb her rest, but now was not the time. Yes, he thought. We have all the time in the world.

He glanced toward the window and watched as the light streaming through slowly turned from grey-black to red-gold. He rejoiced in the knowledge he wouldn't need to shimmy down the trellis outside Amanda's bedroom window just before dawn to keep her family from discovering him in her bed.

Only a few hours from now they would board the plane that would take them to California to their honeymoon and then at long last to begin their new life together.
