Hikaru walked into his sumptuous bedroom, and stopped. Kaoru was sitting on the edge of the bed, head hung. Hikaru knew that Kaoru thought he loved Haruhi, but no, she was just a friend! He felt his twins' misery like a physical wound, sharp and burning. How would he ever let him know that he was the only one he could ever love? Dejectedly, he crossed the room and sat next to him on the bed.
A moment (or was it a lifetime?) passed, then Hikaru felt the tentative touch of his brothers' fingers on his upturned palm. Silently he closed his own fingers around the identical ones that were now grasping his. Slowly he turned his head to seek out his twins' amber eyes, dark with sadness. Their eyes met, the older asking the silent question are you sure? and the other replying.
Hikaru reached out his hand to gently touch the soft skin on Kaorus' cheek, then leaned in to finally kiss him. Kaoru instantly responded, reaching up to tangle his delicate fingers in Hikarus' hair as they opened their mouths to deepen the kiss. All their fears disappeared as each twin found the taste of his other half. Hikaru tenderly pushed his brother back onto the king-size bed as they broke apart to breathe, Hikaru now lying over Kaoru, putting his weight on his hands by Kaorus' head.
They stared into each others' eyes for a second, a minute, then began undoing buttons and pulling down zippers, often stopping for a fierce, passionate kiss or a soothing, soft touch of places so far unexplored. Clothes were discarded one by one, as the two brothers grew more and more impatient. Muffled moans echoed across the room, stopping at the soundproofed doors, windows and walls.
Eventually, the twins were covered with only a sheet. Panting, Hikaru looked down at Kaoru, his brother, his twin, the one he loved more than anything or anyone else in the whole world. Lovingly he stroked down Kaorus' bare chest, delighting in how such a simple action could bring such a beautiful whimper from his lips. Bending forward, he stared into Kaorus' eyes again, although his eyes were dark with lust now rather than despair. Again his own amber eyes sought for any discomfort in his brothers' before he broke this final barrier between them. Kaoru smiled as he raised his hand to trace down the side of his perfect twins' face, before lightly stroking down the arc of his pale neck.
"I love you Hikaru." He whispered as his hand slid over the smooth lines of Hikarus' chest.
"I love you too." Hikaru breathed, as he finally entered his twin.
Later, when full darkness of the early morning had come, Hikaru and Kaoru lay in each others' arms.
"I never loved her." Hikaru whispered, his breath ghosting over Kaorus' ear.
Kaoru smiled.
Barrier broken
