Title: Merry HanukkahAuthor: xox-Shadow's Lament-xox
Pairings: Huddy (House/Cuddy)
Summary: Was anyone else annoyed that Cuddy was in only 1 scene in the new episode? I was so angry : ( Anyways, this is what I think should have happened.
House stepped out of the elevator, his winter coat and scarf wrapped around him snugly. His cane slanted out from him, as his eyes darted around the room in front of him.
His mind was full of the day's events. The woman who'd grown a breast the back of her leg, the annoying hooker look-a-like who kept returning to the clinic, and the oh so fun secret Santa stunt he had pulled on his team, which just happened to get him three free gifts that year.
As he made his way across the crowded nurse's station. There was one thing he was mulling over, there was one thing that his new team hadn't figured out. His mind quickly replayed his sentence in his head,
"Yes. Exactly who I wanted."
It had been true, he had wanted an excuse to give the gift, but he never expected one of his team to suggest a secret Santa. But honestly, should he have expected less from Kutner? The man seemed to be as good an ass kisser as Chase, maybe better.
As he got closer and closer to the hospital's doors, he saw his old team, Forman, Chase, and Cameron, chatting up a storm with his newest minions. All laughing and enjoying themselves. Forman's eyes locked with his, and House gave him a brief nod before fixing his eyes ahead of him.
He was nearly out the door, when he heard her voice. Powerful, yet feminine. He cringed on impulse, as he turned to meet her gaze.
"House!" Cuddy had that 'what the hell were you thinking' posture as she approached him. Except for one small thing, a small, glittering box lay in her hand, it's ribbon slightly askew, seeming to have been untied and then reapplied.
"Did you leave this on my desk?" she said as if scolding a puppy for going on the rug.
He looked at the box, and then looked up, suddenly very interested in the ceiling, "Yup." Was all he said before turning back around and began walking out again.
Cuddy strode after him, stopping in front of him, blocking his escape. "Why?" she narrowed her eyes in suspicion, trying to come up with a reason for his genuinely caring gesture.
House shrugged his shoulders, and looked as if he would not reply for a moment before saying, "Doesn't matter, Merry Hanukkah, Cuddy."
As he walked past her, making sure to slightly brush past her, she still had a quite bemused expression on her face, she quickly spun around, catching a glimpse of his retreating back.
Looking down at the box again, she plucked the ribbons off and lifted the lid, taking another long look at the gift he had gotten her. A simple, white card lay inside, House's cursive text written on it.
You have received one "Get out of harassment free card" redeemable at any moment you may see my coming, good until…let's say next Friday.
She chuckled softly before closing the box again, putting it in her pocket, and returning to the groups of employees and donors still inhabiting the hospital.
A/N This is my first House fanfic, so I hope I did ok in keeping House and Cuddy in character, but please no major flames, I would love some tips on keeping huddy IC.
