Hiccup rested his arms on the windowsill, as he did almost every night, staring at the stars.
Dragons hadn't attacked the village yet, so the sky was incredibly clear and little bright spots drew pictures on that black background.
The boy got lost studying the constellations, when an intense flare interrupted him. He watched the shooting star as it crossed the sky and suddenly disappeared.
Hiccup had been told that in these situations he was supposed to make a wish. He didn't believe it, but he decided to try for once. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"Please, send me a friend" he whispered, just before the dragon alert.
