I rolled over and sighed in frustration. I tried closing my eyes, to force myself to sleep, but with no luck. I threw off the covers and sat up in distress. I hadn't slept in a few days and it was catching up to me. A blast of cold air blew over my exposed skin as I made my way out of my dim bedroom to the dark hallway. I smiled as I made out Jack's shape on the couch, his face just barley lit up from the dim light of the television. I switched it off and heard Jack scoff.
"I was watching that, Yusei."
"Oh," I switched it on. "I thought you were asleep." I smiled as he made room for me on the couch. I laid down next to him, enjoying the touch of our bare skin.
"No, I was watching it." He smiled softly and we watched the television in silence for a moment. "You're up a bit late, something bothering you?"
"No, nothing's bothering me, I just can't sleep." I answered. I started to lull off to sleep, Jack's warmth and steady heartbeat not helping me much.
"I'm putting you to sleep, aren't I?" Jack whispered.
"Mmmmmm...no..." I hummed in content.
"Mmm, I think I am." He smiled and kissed me on my cheek as best he could. He wrapped an arm around my shoulders, pulling me closer before he rolled over on his back so now I was laying across his stomach. I had my chin on his chest so I could look at his now glowing purple eyes. Jack shut off the television, plunging us into momentary darkness. As my eyes adjusted, I could hear him breathing more clearly. Jack deepened it and slowed it down on purpose. I sighed.
"That's not fair..." My hands fondled with his toned chest as he laughed slightly.
"Not fair?" He moved me closer to him and kissed my forehead. I could barley keep my eyes open. I dunno how he did it...but for the first night in a long time, I slept. I wish he would do this more often, letting me sleep in his arms. I felt safe and secure under those beautiful purple eyes.
