Yuki was tied to the the curse by strings on all sides; two looped around each of his arms, and two for each leg respectively.

The teen sighed as his silver hair glistened under the overhead light. His homework, however, wasn't the cause of his gloomy demeanor. No, Yuki had been thinking so much recently about how attached he was to his "rat" persona. All of the affected Juunishi were set free of the zodiac curse a little over a month ago, but Yuki almost wanted it back. After all, who was he without being the rat?

One by one, each string snapped, leaving him dangling and eventually spiraling into a downward hole of blackness. He became engulfed by the emptiness, so much so that he didn't even recognize the sound of his own name anymore.

Suddenly, a light knock sounded at the other side of the door.
"Yes?" Yuki's soft voice beckoned the visitor in, hoping to be distracted from his nearly manic depressive thoughts.
Tohru opened the door with a light smile before coming in.
"Un, Yuki? Are you okay? You've seemed a bit secretive lately...I mean, if you want to maybe talk about I-"
"Yes, please" Yuki nearly begged.
Tohru smiled, and Yuki proceeded to fill her in on his problems. She was like his diary; a way to vent his foolish feelings without worrying about judgement.
"And so, in short, who exactly am I without the rat?" He asked.
A kind smile formed on Tohru's face.
"Yuki, you're still the same. Most people didn't know you were the zodiac rat to start with, so you will always be their prince Yuki!" Tohru and Yuki both giggled, Yuki doing so only half-heartedly. "Also, to me, you will always be "Sohma-san", the kind boy who invited me into his life when no one else was there. Only now, I hope to see you smile much more..." Tohru trailed off, still holding the same dreamy smile. Yuki stared at her in utmost bewilderment, a shade of light shade of pink spreading across his normally pale face.

After falling through the expansive nothingness for too long for his own sanity, the former rat's feet landed softly on the ground.
"W-Who am I?" He asked himself, the name now sitting at the tip of his tongue.
"Yuki."
He turned his head to the source of the voice, seeing none other than Tohru Honda standing before him, her hand reaching for his.
"You're Yuki Sohma."

"I-I'm sorry, none of that made sense, did it?" The onigiri asked with a nervous laugh before continuing, "I guess I talk nonesense a lot, don't I? I'm sorry, I really shouldn-"
Tohru was cut off by Yuki wrapping his arms around her, small beads of tears in his eyes.
"Thank you..."
Tohru went beet red, before smiling and returning his warm embrace.
xXx
"Thank you, Tohru Honda, for reminding me who I am...thank you..."
