Disclaimer: I do not own The Mentalist, Bruno Heller does. If I owned The Mentalist there would be Jisbon en masse and lots more Rigspelt.

A/N: Just a little something I felt like writing after watching 'The Blood On His Hands'. I'll be honest, I don't like Kristina, but I thought it would be interesting to have her point of view of what's happening when Jane calls on her 'departed soul' towards the end of the episode. Reviews and crits feed my soul.

Kristina Frye sees. She opens her eyes and she sees him sitting there opposite her, asking her if she can hear him,

"I can hear you Patrick." She smiles at him. It's as though she's waking from a dream, a pleasant dream, and being thrust back into the cruelty of reality. But it's only temporary. She reminds herself. I'll return to the afterlife soon enough. He thanks her, thanks her for speaking to him, "I'm so glad you called on me." She says sincerely, "I knew in the end you'd become a believer." He slams his hands on the table. Denying belief. Sorrow causing his voice to waver a little, "There's sadness in your voice," she interrupts before he finishes; "Don't be sad Patrick. Death is not the end. The afterlife is a beautiful place, it's peaceful here." It's true. She feels so at peace in that dream, "Happy." She adds, seeing the disbelief on his face. He shakes his head, more denial,

"You're not dead." She smiles, wanting to laugh and shake her head. Ever the doubter,

"You're talking to a ghost and still you're a sceptic. You are impossible." She can tell her smile is making him uncomfortable,

"You're not dead, Kristina." He replies with conviction, "You're alive." She smiles sadly,

"You're in denial. Eventually you'll accept the truth. I know it's hard." She takes a deep breath before continuing, "God knows I struggled against it myself." Her eyes are filled with sadness now and she looks down. She sighs, "But you can't fight death." She smiles again. He doesn't correct her this time,

"How did you die?" He asks, scepticism still painted clearly on his face. She continues to smile and looks him in the eye as she answers,

"I don't remember." She says, "It's funny how things become unimportant. It's as if my life was a dream. I woke up. I can't recall what happened." She only remembers the now and the far gone past, the last few weeks of her life are nonexistent or at best a blur in her memory,

"Did you see Red John?" He questions. She sends him a slightly confused look,

"Who?" she asks. He stares at her, eyes boring into her,

"Red John." He replies as though the words pain him to say, "Red John," he says again, separating the two halves of the name as if for effect, "the man who abducted you." She shakes her head slowly,

"I don't understand what you're talking about." He moves back slowly in his chair, looking hurt and upset. He looks back. God, if only he knew how much she wanted to be back with him. He licks his fingers as he turns back round, she knows he's going to extinguish the candle, sever the link. But she does not fight it. This is how it's meant to be. She tells herself. If I was meant to stay I would not have died. He puts out the candle. The link is severed and Kristina falls back into the pure, innocent beauty of the afterlife.
