Bethany and Louis were walking down the sidewalk of the park next to Bethany's neighborhood. She really liked Louis, more than a friend, but she knew she was stuck in the friend zone. She knew he only thought of her as his best friend anyways, and probably didn't want to put their friendship on the line for something that may not even last. Her stomach flipped thinking about it, so she tried to get her mind off it by actually paying attention to what Louis was saying. "...So that's why Harry had to buy me a new microwave. Niall laughed the whole time too." Since she didn't exactly know what Louis was talking about, Bethany just laughed and nodded. "You talk about the most random things, Lou." Louis smiled. He liked it when she called him Lou. He kind of liked her too. He replied, "Can we go get ice cream? I'm starving!" Bethany groaned. "Fine, but you're driving."
Later that day, they both headed over to the secluded public pool. It was only secluded because it was Wednesday afternoon. School was out for summer in a few days for kids."You go in first. I hate cold water," Bethany explained. "So? It's June already," said Louis. "Yeah but summer just star-" Bethany was caught off guard when Louis grabbed her and threw her over his shoulder. She wasn't surprised by how strong he was, either. "LOUIS TOMLINSON PUT ME-" once again, Bethany was cut off but this time by hitting the relatively cool pool water.
She sensed Louis jump in next to her. She swam upwards trying to catch her breath and emerged from the blue water. "HOLY SHIT LOUIS! I hate you!" Louis was cracking up next to her, dripping wet. She couldn't help but notice how blue his eyes looked when he was in the water. Bethany sighed as the playful anger turned into joy as Lou chased her around the pool. "OKAY! okay! I need a break," Bethany breathed. Louis came up behind her and put his hands around her waist. Bethany turned around so they were pressing their bodies against each other in the pool. Their faces were inches apart. "Um.. Sorry.." said Louis, as he pulled away. Bethany was purely disappointed. "No, it's fine.. I guess.." this is the first time she ever felt awkward around Louis. Bethany was on the verge of tears. "Uh, I should go. But I'll see you later, right?" she faked a smile and rushed to get out of the pool. Louis followed behind at a slower pace. "Yeah I guess... Um..." he managed to say before Bethany walked quickly towards the exit.
She started walking towards her house, even though Louis had drove her to the pool. She didn't want to deal with the awkward ride home. After about 10 minutes, she heard Louis' car pull up behind her. "Look, I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that, please get in the car. You've only walked half a mile and your house is a few miles away." Louis pleaded. "Fine..." Bethany mumbled. She got in the passenger side and stared out the window. Louis pulled over not too long after she got in. "Um... Bethany... I'm sorry. I just really like you. I've liked you for a few years now but I was scared it would ruin our friendship. I just couldn't help myself...in the pool... I shouldve kissed you..." Bethany looked at Louis. He looked sad and ashamed of what he had done, thinking bethany was mad at him for it. What she was mad about is that he had pulled away. She smiled at him before unbuckling her seatbelt and scooting closer to him. He placed his hands on her waist again as she wrapped her arms around his neck. She gave him one last reassuring smile before He finally gave her a long over due kiss, and Bethany was the happiest girl in world.
