While I was rewatching Fillmore eps Sat, 8/18/07, I got to thinking about the part of This Savior, A Snitch when Fillmore and Ingrid ran out of the closet, Ingrid dressed in Auggie's clothes, and Auggie in Ingrid's dress. I started thinking about how/why they traded outfits and was like, "Oh boy. That must've been awkward." Because, you know, Fillmore and Auggie's skin tones don't match, and even if they had switched clothes, it would've been awkward or wouldn't have worked, as one or both of the boys was needed to testify… But it must have been weird for Ingrid to have changed clothes in a closet with two boys right there—because they probably couldn't have gone into the hallway with Scooter and his buddies nearby, and Ingrid and Auggie probably would've had to change at the same time. That or keep their eyes closed, and I'm sure Ingrid made them both shut their eyes VERY tightly, and closed her own eyes when Auggie was changing.
So, here's my take one what could've "gone down" in the closet before Ingrid and Fillmore ran and Auggie testified.
It all belongs to Disney or whoever thought it up. The idea is sort of mine, but Fillmore and the rest of the characters are not. I'm just manipulating them to do my will.
Probably a short (possibly not-so-good) one-shot. Don't kill me.
"Do what you can to stall," Ingrid instructed Tehama. "We're on our way."
"What?" Auggie demanded. "I never said I'd—"
"You don't have to say a word, Auggie," Ingrid interrupted, steering him into the school. "But the only way to keep you safe is to keep you with us. And right now, we have a hearing to get to."
As the trio entered the school, they spotted one of Scooter's pals at the end of the hallway and turned the other way, only to almost run into another of Scooter's pals. Cornered, they snuck to the janitor's closet, where Auggie came up with a plan.
"You've got to be kidding me," Ingrid protested. "No way am I changing clothes, especially not with you two right here."
"Ingrid, everyone matters, remember?" Fillmore reminded her, eyebrows raised.
"Besides," Auggie put in, "They'd know Fillmore wasn't me—he's got darker skin."
"Great, guilt me into it, why don't you." The girl genius sighed, agreeing, "Alright, Auggie, I'll trade outfits with you."
Auggie grinned and she added harshly, "But only if the two of you keep your eyes shut. Tightly."
Auggie looked disappointed, and Fillmore smiled. "Don't worry, Ingrid. I'll make sure Auggie keeps his eyes closed."
"Fillmore."
He grinned. "What?"
At her glare, he declared, "Oh! I get it. My eyes, too, huh?"
Ingrid rolled her eyes. "Yes, you too, Cornelius."
"Alright, alright. Change already—you've got a hearing to get to."
After quite a bit of bumping around in the small space, Ingrid and Auggie managed to exchange outfits without looking at each other too much, thanks to Ingrid's system—only after she was sure the boys' eyes were squeezed shut did she request Auggie's pants, offering him her dress after he gave up his shirt.
When she opened her eyes, Auggie's were surprisingly closed, though Fillmore's were open, and he asked, "What? I opened my eyes right before you did, and by then you were wearing the shirt. I promise."
"So I can open my eyes now, right?" Auggie inquired, opening one eye to peek at Fillmore, who replied, "Yeah, it's cool."
"Good. Now let's go. I really don't wanna wear this dress longer than I have to."
Ingrid snatched Auggie's hat from the floor and looked at Fillmore. "We going?"
"You know it. Let's do this thing."
There ya have it. Three hundred and eighty eight words, written in…a day or two. Can't remember how long it took me, but it took some time.
If it stinks, that's okay. And it's not related Sorry: No Title Yet.
