This poem is the first in a long list of them, that are called 'Companion Pieces,' In other words, each poem goes with a certain scene of Tavington from the movie.
I have given up everything
Sacrificed myself to what I believe
Yet it was for nothing
Or so it seemed
And now
Now that I am here
At this moment
In time
Where all reality stands still
And where life comes to a final close
You are nothing
And you no longer matter
My soul is free
From your hatred
Your loathing
And from pain
Though I still feel all of it
I know it will not last
I am a dying soul
But I will live
I will go on
And in the end
You will not matter
Because all that I have done
Neither good nor bad
Will be the memories
That others carry of me
In the end
Where I go from here
Where my dying soul dwells
You will never follow
And in this moment
Of pain and dying
By your hand
You may be Ghost
Butcher though you call me
You are nothing
And I
Eternal.
