I don't own Maximum Ride; JP does.
The gun went off again and he quickly pivoted to shoot behind him. The dog barked one more time before crouching on its belly and lowly growling. The gun went off three more times and was quiet.
All of my muscles were coiled and ready to snap at any second. My wings were tensed and I had my back pressed as hard as I could to the back of the couch. Startled, I realized that I had stopped breathing at some point and was now holding my breath for the main character of the movie the Fang had convinced me to watch with him.
Fang was oblivious to my anxiety, watching the television screen with as much concentration as he had when taking down erasers. Every round fired from the gun caused me to flash back to the School and various fights we had encountered.
BANG- the gun went off again and this time I jumped up and placed my back against the space where two of the walls met, holding my hands in a fighting position. I was convinced in that moment that they were coming to hurt me again, coming to take me away to the School and perform endless, agonizing tests on me until I gave up on myself and Fang.
Fang! I needed to find Fang and make sure he was all right. I was trying to concentrate, but everything was blurry and colors were blending together. Concentrate Max! I scolded myself; you need to find Fang and then the rest of the Flock!
The world was still blurry, but I could just make out something coming towards me, a big, shapeless, black blob. There was a high keening sound that I realized was coming from me and I took a panicked breath to try and stop it.
The shapeless blob was coming closed still and I steeled myself for a blow before I attempted to kick the mass of a person that was coming at me. Bad idea, the attempt at the kick just threw me off balance and I started to collapse; the ground coming toward me like an unstoppable torpedo.
The blob half caught my wrist and, when he started to fall with me, he twisted his body in mid-air so that he got the brunt of the impact and I landed on him.
"-DAMMIT MAX, IT'S ME! IT'S FANG! CALM DOWN, IT'S NOT REAL. You're fine, you're fine, you're safe," Fang continued to calmly tell me that I was fine and stroked my hair. The world spun back into focus before I clenched my eyes shut and buried my head in Fang's shoulder.
The smell of wild pines and soap comforted me as I began dry-sobbing, taking big, gulping breaths.
"Shh, I know," Fang held me and whispered reassuring words to me while I clung to him like he was the only thing tying me to the Earth. Sometimes that's the only thing you can do; cling to someone and hope like hell they don't let go.
Yup, so there it is. It's not very long/good but just an idea that I had that I typed out quickly. Tell me if you want a Fang POV!
