She was a curiosity that girl who sat on the front porch everyday as he walked home; a beautiful curiosity Finnick thought, but a curiosity none the less. Something about her was just curious, just slightly off. She just didn't fit in. Whenever the class went on field trips to the District 4 beaches, she wouldn't go in the water like everyone else, she would just wander along the beach searching for shells. She never could have enough shells; in her backyard there was a shell garden that must belong to her. All the guys thought she was beautiful and all the girls were jealous of her beauty. She lived with her grandmother and older brother who was very popular in the district. Her brother was always at her defense. If anyone called her odd or strange he would beat them up in a matter of seconds.
Finnick couldn't help but stare at her, but all his friends told him to not waste his time. She had never said yes to any of the multiple boys who had asked her out. She pretty much shied away from people.
Apparently, she had been very different in her elementary/middle school years. She had been quite a Miss Popular. She hung out with the popular group and dated the hottest guys. Until the summer after eighth grade she went away to someplace and came back completely changed. Freshman year she ditched her old friends and secluded herself from human company except her grandmother and brother.
Her beauty was something else again; she had the type of beauty that is impossible to describe and still give justice to it. Think of the most beautiful person you have ever met and multiply them five times over. She had the most beautiful curly honey-colored hair that went down to her hips. Her eyes were the color of the ocean, a beautiful blue-green. Looking into her eyes, one could almost transport themselves to the ocean. Her smile was beautiful, if you are lucky to witness it as she hardly ever smiles.
She was incredibly kind; everything she did she seemed to do lovingly. She was compassionate. She cared for the environment. She was a gem in a dark world.
