Unseen Luffy

Wide innocent eyes,

That trick people so clearly;

even those that this person holds dearly.

He fights for his friends,

Rather die then let them down.

Smiles so widely,

No one watches for a frown.

They can't see the tears that slowly tumble to the ground,

Or the creeping indecision,

which invades without a sound.

Why can't anyone hear the cries that haunt his dreams?

He's afraid that all he has

won't amount to anything.

Afraid that every single nakama

Will be stripped away;

That he won't be strong enough

To fight so they can stay.

His burden is the heaviest,

Yet he shows it not at all.

Mugiwara no Luffy,

He stands the straightest of them all.

Notes

Nakama is the Japanese word for dear friend. To call someone your nakama is almost the equivalent to saying that they're part of your family. (I.E. Luffy's nakama is his crew; because all of his crew members are his dearly important friends.)

Mugiwara no Luffy means Straw-Hat Luffy. Straw-Hat Luffy is Luffy's nick name and what he is called on his wanted poster.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this poem! I hope you enjoyed it. If you want to, drop me a review; because, in all honesty, it will take you less than two minutes to write one and it will fill up your 'Good Things I Did Today' quota. : )
As you can probably tell, this is a poem about Luffy and his angst. I wanted to do a short poem which told why Luffy never gives up and always continues to get stronger. He's always confronting his greatest fear when he goes into the battle, the possibility of losing his best friends!

Until next time - Kuroi Fushichou
