Chp.1
Greed-Ler sat at his desk looking out the window. He saw what looked to Once-Ler as a depressing and dark scenery, but he saw money. There were still over 1,000 trees left, and Once-Ler had started replanting the trees, so he didn't know why Once-Ler worried all the time. He saw his doppelgänger shake the Lorax's hand.
"Those two can make a truce, but that doesn't mean I have to," Greed-Ler quietly mumbled to himself. Greed-Ler was the head of the company, while his more innocent half was a close second in power, who takes care of the trees and animals.
Once-Ler and Greed-Ler showed different feelings for each other, but both felt the same deep down. As his innocent half happily skipped back to the factory, Greed felt a small tug on his lips. He loved it when Once-Ler was happy, but he often didn't show that feeling around Greed-Ler, and it broke Greeds heart. Oncie was scared of him. Maybe he wouldn't be if he didn't yell all the time. But how else was Greed-Ler supposed to keep him inline?
Once-Ler knocked on the door to Greeds office. Going in there always made him nervous, like he was getting in trouble at school.
"Come in." Boomed a loud voice the same as his own. Oncie quietly opened the door and shuffled his feet towards the desk in the middle of the room. He wafted away a cloud of smoke from Greed-Lers cigar. He cleared his throat before speaking.
"I don't think you'll be having anymore problems with the Lorax anymore. We made a truce. He said if for every one tree we cut down we replant two saplings. Does that sound good?" Oncie said triumphantly as he tried avoiding eye contact with his employer.
Greed-Ler nodded and gestured his other half to come closer. Greed put out the cigar and threw it into the trash bin. Once-Ler made his feet move from is spot on the floor. Once he was right in front of Greed-Ler, he felt himself being pulled down by his shirt collar so he was eye level with Greed. Before he knew it a pair of identical lips was planted on his.
He tried to scream and pull away, but he couldn't. It was like he was in a trance. He kept his eyes open as a reminder not to enjoy it. As Greed pulled his lips away, Oncie never blinked. He just stared at his future self. Greed-Ler grinned back.
"What's the matter Oncie?" Greed teased. He knew he hated it when he called him Oncie. Oncie blinked back to reality. Once he was able to comprehend what had just happened he ran out of the room. Greed was about to reach for him but let him go anyway.
Once-Ler ran for his living quarters, which was painfully close to Greed-Lers. He ran in, shut the door behind him and flopped on the bed. He just wanted to curl up and stay there forever.
He felt migraines hit his head like nuclear bombs. He covered his ears and tucked in his knees. He pulled the covers up over him with one hand. He didnt care that he would probably be scolded for missing work. He didn't care about anything anymore. He didn't want to enjoy the experience, but he did, a little too much. He felt sick to his stomach.
Greed-Ler stared at the door for awhile, not doing anything. Just stared. He knew it was best to leave Oncie alone for the rest of the day, maybe even week. Although he tormented him everyday, he loved Oncie. He didn't know how to show that kind of emotion toward him. He lit a new cigar and popped it in his mouth. He leaned back in his chair and looked up at the ceiling before closing his eyes. He thought about Oncie. He dreamt about Oncie. He loved Oncie.
