The smell of sweat, blood and shit burned her nose as Kagome pushed herself beyond endurance. She focused on her task as she swung her katana, ignoring the slight resistance the flesh and bone of her opponent offered. He screamed in agony as his arm was separated from his torso and Kagome was sprayed with his blood
Kagome shot up and out of bed, nearly collapsing when her knee didn't support her weight, damaged from a long ago battle. She looked around the room she was in and realized that she was alone in her room at her family shrine. She looked over at her digital clock and saw it was 5:00AM. Kagome sighed in exhaustion and got out of her bed, no point in going back to sleep.
Kagome Slowly dressed and made her way downstairs to the kitchen where she made her breakfast. She ate slowly, contemplating her prescription bottle, medicine to help with her symptoms and pain. Then she walked outside with the help of her cane and sat on one of the shine benches to watch the sun rise.
She was still sitting there lost in her memories when her mother came out, having seen her out the window. "Kagome." Her mother called to her quietly. Kagome flinched and then turned to her mother. Her mother handed her the tea she had clutched in her hands and sat beside her. Kagome closed her eyes, relishing in the warmth as it brought feeling to her numb fingers.
"Kagome, I spoke with my father last night." Her mother said. Kagome took a sip from her tea and waited for her mother to continued. "I asked him if you could stay with him. I think it would be good for you." Her mother explained. "He said he would ask his boss, If it's all right do you want to go?"
"Can I think about it?" Kagome asked. "Of course." Her mother answered, giving Kagome a hug. "I love you." She told her as she tightened her grip slightly then let he go. "I think it will be good for you." She said before getting up and walking into the house.
Kagome leaned forwards and rested her elbows on her thighs with a sigh. She stared into the tea she held in her hands and inhaled the bitter scent. She thought over what her mother said. "Should she go to England?'' Kagome thought. 'The shrine triggered so many memories, maybe getting away would help her work out her issues." She looked at her reflection in the cooling liquid and made a decision. If her grandfather's boss agreed she would go.
It was evening when her grandfather called back. His boss was coming to japan and he was coming with them. Her mother was happy to learn she was going to see her father again. Kagome, however, was unsure. These men were going to be staying at their house on the shrine grounds and she knew nothing about them.
What if they were like ? What if she had an episode? Kagome climbed into bed for another sleepless night. Time will tell.
