Appreciating Muggle Food

"What's that?" demanded Ron.

Hermione smiled at him and placed one of the objects in his hand. "It's a snow cone, Ron."

"Hermione, what the bloody hell is a snow cone?"

"A snow cone is a type of Muggle treat. I remember them from when I was younger."

Ron looked up just in time to see Hermione putting the thing in her mouth. Horrified, he said, "What are you doing?"

"No need to scream like a girl, Ron. I told you snow cones are something that Muggles eat."

"Since when do you eat Muggle food?"

"I was raised by Muggles, Ronald." Hermione answered, pausing to take a bite of her snow cone. "Just try it. You'll like it."

"If I don't like it, you can like a Bertie Bott. Of my choice." said Ron. The look that came over him was one Hermione was more used to seeing on Fred or George. She took Ron's snow cone from him and held it in front of his mouth. "Just one bite. Then you can feed me your bean."

Reluctantly, Ron took a bite, knowing that he could never truly resist the persuasive Hermione. What he tasted was unlike anything he had had before, and in a surprisingly good way. Ron took another bite, then another, and continued until his snow cone was gone.

"So, which flavor am I enjoying this afternoon?" asked Hermione, throwing the empty cones away.

"No, Hermione, I love snow cones. I loved it. I love you," said Ron, pressing his cold lips to Hermione's cheek.

She wasn't entirely sure she believed him. Hermione knew Ron would eat anything from anywhere and say he liked it. At the very least, she hoped he gained a new appreciation for Muggle food.
