Something that happened

Trawling through the net one day,
a piece of data
caught my eye
Fractured and fragmented,
It turned into a letter
an email, a request
A warning.
From a potentially
Dead stranger.

That was the beginning
Of my own
Stand-alone complex.

A copy
Without an original
was the phenomena
I became
The Blue logo
I may have designed
The swirling text
I may have chosen.
But I was not
the original
Laughing man.

I was reckless.
I must admit, my ideals
Blinded me
The CEO I threatened
Could not help me.
So back into the net
I retreated, until only
A whisper was left.

In my absence
My symbol was abused.
Raped by greedy companies
Furthering their own
destructive ends.

Furthering the cycle
Of my own
Stand-alone complex.

Like a coward, I covered
My eyes and my mouth
But my eyes were left
Uncovered
To see the end
Of the madness.

Deaf-mute I remained
For half a year
Or more
Playing the little boy
Dressed all in blue.
My complex died quietly
Left alone to lick
At the wounds the companies
had left

I had thought
I could remain in
The bubble I had made
The barrier maze
Between the real world
And mine.

But then she came.
Shedding light
On a half-forgotten
Situation
My curiosity was piqued
In a lonely live chat room.
Her piercing eyes
looked through mine
Almost to the truth within.

All to find the new surprise
Of the rising meme
Of a new
Laughing man crisis

She named my complex
After it was over
Took my catcher mitt
Left of course.
Called my bluff
Then somehow ended
The trail of laughing men.

But you know?
If I'd had my choice,
to restart this all again?
I think I'd pretend
to be something other
Than the Deaf-mute.

You know?
If I'd had my Godamn choice?
I think I'd be
The simple
Catcher in the Rye.

But there I go,
Quoting again.
She hated that.

The quoting.

Analysing poems at school makes me want to write poetry. Um. Well, This is Aoi's perspective on the laughing man incident. The "she" in the poem is meant to be the Major Kusanagi Motoko. The last two stanzas are a mix of the two things he writes in oil paints when Togusa has to work undercover.

Not sure if this is really any good but this is kind of the anime that I grew up into understanding so I really felt like I should write something for it. Also I like Aoi.
