Hi!
It's really really short, but I quite like it.
-insert disclaimer-
For many years of his teenage life, Blaine Anderson had been forced to wear a mask, hiding all signs of insecurity and weakness. Moving to Dalton, he had been presented with the opportunity of finally removing the obscuring item, but had become accustom to the comfort and safety it had brought him throughout previous years.
So, Blaine kept his mask firmly in place, only ever allowing the bird, Pavarotti, whom he had been assigned to care for when he joined the Warblers, to see him with his mask off, his defences down, as he had curled up and wept himself to sleep in his single dorm room at Dalton Academy.
Blaine had never had a reason to doubt his metaphorical mask. Never had his seemingly flawless personality been doubted by the people he called his friends. Never had they seen the real Blaine Anderson, only Blaine Warbler, perfect in as many ways as possible.
All that was blown away when a certain Kurt Hummel had been sent to spy, and Blaine had seen a part of the old him, part of himself that he was hiding, reflected in the porcelain boy's bright, expressive eyes.
The pure vulnerability and hopelessness mixed with a sense of determination and pride set alight something in Blaine, a powerful urge to help and protect the boy who reminded him of a younger, naiver version of himself.
Little did he know that through helping the endearing spy, he would find the will and strength to finally remove the mask that he had become accustom to and reliant on.
Kurt's defiant an outgoing personality had reminded Blaine of everything he wasn't, everything that he thought he had to hide to get by in life.
Kurt had been the sole witness to the unravelling of the true Blaine Anderson. They grew extremely close to each other in a short period of time, and no one, not even their closest friends and family members had been able to comprehend the bond that these two seemed to have.
Over numerous cups of coffee and plates of biscotti, the two boys had shared many of their deepest thoughts and feelings with the other, and through those moments, had made themselves more vulnerable and exposed than they had ever been. They had grown to trust one another, and had unknowingly formed an unexplainable and unbreakable bond between themselves, which often left many of their friends in awe of the strength of their relationship.
Everyone knew they were going to beat the statistics, and be each other's forever.
I originally posted this on tumblr, but it got a positive reaction so I posted here too.
