This idea literally just popped into my head.

I don't own Pokemon.

Ash was ready to eat his dinner, which had been prepared for him by Professor Kukui's wife, Professor Benet.

He brought his dinner to the living room, where Kukui was watching a TV show.

Ash said to Kukui, "hey Professor, what are you watching?"

Kukui said, "this here is Alola Five-0. It was my father's favorite show back in the day. This here is the reboot that began 8 years ago. It's the season finale, with a 9th season set to begin production soon."

Ash said, "tell me more."

Kukui said, "decades ago, not much was known about the Alola region outside the Alola region. That was when the Kanto Broadcasting System over in Kanto made the creative decision in 1968 to commission a police drama set in Alola centered around a special task force.

The show introduced the other regions to many of Alola's regional Pokemon.

One memorable episode aired in 1971 called Call of the Wild. A man raised by a pack of Lycanroc and Rockruff and still living with said pack was the only witness to an execution-style murder.

Since he didn't speak human language, the Five-0 Team needed the help of a certified Pokemon Whisperer to translate him.

One memorable line from the episode, spoken by Daniel Willard was 'nothing's cuter than a mother Lycanroc and her Rockruff pups'.

The show lasted 12 seasons until 1980, and 30 years later the reboot debuted. Both versions remain wildly popular to this day."

Ash said "it's amazing you know so much, maybe I should start watching this show."

Kukui said, "you should, it's a great show."

Alola Five-0 is based on Hawaii Five-0, in line with Alola being based on Hawaii. Both versions of Hawaii Five-0 are among my favorite shows, and the history behind the original show's conception inspired how Alola Five-0 was first conceived. The reboot of Hawaii Five-0 just recently finished its 8th season, and has been renewed for a 9th.
