For JaiHololove, who wanted me to write more for this couple. This is what came out of my head.

"What's happening? Why are you all standing around?" Olivia asked her employees.

"There's someone here to talk to you," Abby said anxiously, moving aside to let Olivia see.

"What does she want?"

"I don't know. She said she only wants to talk to you."

Olivia walked into her office. She was wary of what might happen.

"Mellie?"

"Hello, Olivia," Mellie said, barely making eye contact with her.

"What are you doing here?"

"I came to see you."
"If this is about Fitz—"

"No, it's not about Fitz. I came here to get your professional opinion about something." She stood up nervously and began wandering around the room, still avoiding Olivia's eyes. "Hypothetical question: let's say the first lady came to you and wanted to know what would happen if she divorced her husband at the end of his term and found someone else. Would she have any chance at running for president?"

"Hypothetically, I would tell the client that they'd do best to wait one or two cycles between the divorce and running for office, but it seems that this woman could likely come back from that."

"Interesting, interesting. Would that be different if this first lady had fallen in love with another woman?"

For the first time in years, Olivia was left speechless.

"If, say, she had fallen in love with her husband's campaign manager many years before. If she had never known how to treat her since the day they met. A woman who had always considered herself ambitious, focused and poised suddenly breathless by this gorgeous miracle worker. What then? What would you tell her then?"

"I…I don't know," Olivia stammered.

Mellie laughed. "You're Olivia Pope. You're supposed to know everything." She made her way to Olivia's desk, finally able to look at her. She cupped Olivia's chin, their faces inches apart. "Think about it," she said and kissed Olivia on the forehead. She walked out of the office without another word.

Olivia was dumbstruck for a few moments. As Mellie was nearing the elevator, Olivia opened the door to the hall.

"If anyone could do it, it would be you," she said.

Mellie studied her for a moment. "How…encouraging," she replied.

They stared at each other until the elevator doors closed.
