It all started a few weeks ago, in the choir room, where all the Glee drama tended to go down. Santana was enjoying her return to the club, though she had been so happy to be away from the endless vortex of suck that was Finchel. It was like they just magnified everything bad about each other and when they were together caused her to hate them even more. When they were broken up she could almost stand them.

Almost.

Anyhow, Kurt was badgering Finn about selecting the right birthday gift for Rachel and Frankenteen was typically clueless, having thought her birthday was last month.

"No, Finn," Kurt corrected patiently. "That was your birthday."

"Oh…well I knew there was a party," Finn said, then his face got that constipated look that said he was trying to think. "I don't know what to get her. She's impossible to buy for!"

Huh, you could almost smell the useless brain cells burning in Finn's ginormous head.

"Dude, get her a music box," Puck piped up from where he was tuning his guitar.

Finn and Kurt turned to look at him, Finn confused (Duh!) and Kurt with an archly raised brow. "Huh?"

Santana had slept with a lot of guys, but Finn was the one she regretted the most. Not because it hurt Rachel, but because he was really, really annoyingly stupid.

"A music box," Puck elaborated. "You can get one that plays Streisand. She'd like that."

Which was how Finn wound up presenting Rachel with a music box that played Free Again. Kurt had been the one to actually find the music box and no way did Santana believe Finn had wrapped the thing. If he had, he'd still be tangled in the yards of ribbon.

Of course Rachel had loved the present, throwing her arms around Finn and almost crying. "It's lovely!" she exclaimed, "I can't believe you knew this the perfect gift. You get me so well."

Finn was grinning dopily, taking all the praise as though he deserved it. "Of course, Rach. I'm your boyfriend."

"I didn't think you listened when I talked about my music box that got broken last month…."

Oh, bullshit. Puck hadn't just pulled the music box idea out of his Rachel Berry attuned brain, he'd known this was the thing she'd.

"Yeah, how ever did you think of a music box, Finn?" Santana asked, crossing her arms and cocking a hip to on side. Her typical shit-is-about-to-go-down stance.

Around the room, heads swirled to watch the carnage.

Fumbling, Finn said, "Well, you know…Rachel….music box….."

Beside him, Rachel was looking at Santana with narrowed eyes, but the side glance she tossed at Finn was not entirely happy either.

"Really?" Santana asked, "Cuz I'm pretty sure I heard Puck tell you about the music box and the song. Or am I having a bad trip?"

"Well…maybe, yeah," Finn stammered, caught in a lie as Rachel looked up at him with betrayed eyed. "But, but I was the one to give it to you!"

No one could really blame Rachel when she fled the room.

Everyone exchanged uneasy glances as Santana took a sip of her punch and Puck threw Finn an exasperated glare. "Gotta hand it to you Finn, you make me look good," Puck drawled as he began toward the door.

Beginning to realize things hadn't worked out for him, Finn grumbled, "Yeah? How?"

"You suck worse than I do."

With that he left, probably to find Rachel.

No one was surprised when Finn and Rachel were broken up (again) the next morning. Everyone figured it'd just be awhile before she took him back.

What no one counted on (except Santana, because she knew it was bound to happen eventually) was that Puck and Rachel started dating a few weeks later. What no one ever dreamed was that they stayed together through graduation, moved to New York and lived happily ever after.

Santana was Puck's best woman at their wedding and she rocked her tailored tux and heels.

Comments, pretty please?
