Why Did You Leave Me?

Robin did not want to accept what was happening around him. Regina was gone. Buried in the ground. He was never going to see his love again. He glanced around the cemetery to see Snow leaning her head on David's shoulder. Tinkerbell was crying. Hook had a solemn expression on his face. Emma was crying. Rumplestilskin's expression was unreadable but he knew somewhere deep down he was grieving as well. Roland was trying his best to be strong but failing.

He felt a hand on his shoulder. It was Henry. A grown man who looked like the little boy he met so long ago. Agony filled his eyes and Robin had to look away. It didn't help because he looked right into his daughter's teary eyes. He swallowed a lump in his throat because she looked just like her mother.

He brought her against his chest and he felt the trembling. "Anna, it's going to be alright," he whispered. She sniffled. His grip tightened around her. "Mom is in a better place now. She's at peace," he continued to whisper.

Anna let go. She went to stand by Henry and Roland.

"Dad," Henry said. "We need to go home." He didn't want to leave. He wanted to fall on top of the casket and never return. He wanted to die and be with Regina. However, that wasn't an option.

He wordlessly walked away and headed to the vehicle. The drive was silent. He could see out of his peripheral that Henry was constantly looking at him.

They pulled up to the house and Robin got out of the car. He slowly looked up at the white house and a pain went through his heart. He could remember how Regina was always there to greet him when he got home. Now she wouldn't be.

"Daddy," Anna called out grabbing his hand. She gave him a tug so he could move his feet. He went inside and immediately headed for the bedroom. He barely heard his children's worried voices.

He heard voices downstairs minutes later. He didn't bother going downstairs. He didn't want to see any of them. Eventually the voices ceased. A sense of relief flooded through him. He decided to lay down and try to sleep.

However, sleep wasn't going to come to him. He was interrupted by a knock on the door. "Robin, it's Snow."

She opened the door quietly and peeked her head around the corner. "Robin," she said.

He sat up and she walked into the room fully. She closed the door and went to sit beside him. She didn't say a word. All she did was slip her hand into his and gave it a tight squeeze.

He felt himself about to crack. Outside of his kids, Snow was the only one who felt the same deep pain.

"How can she be dead?" he questioned. "Why her? Why couldn't I go first?"

"I don't know," she weakly replied. "I'm sorry."

"Not as sorry as I am," he said. "She's supposed to be here. She's supposed to walk through that front door and tell me about her day. She should be sleeping next to me. Not in some cold ground."

"Robin-

He cleared his throat. "I'm fine Snow. Go home." He let go and stood up. "David's waiting on you I'm sure."

"I can stay," she responded.

"I want to be left alone," he said. "Tell the kids I'll see them soon." She hugged him and told him if he needed anything that she would be happy to help. She left.

Robin looked around the room and noticed everything of hers. He picked up her brush and held it tightly as he began to cry. He fell to the ground as the sobs became louder. In a fit of rage he threw the brush against the wall.

He started trashing the room. He wanted to break anything he could get his hands on. He couldn't lash out at the person he was most angry at. When he was done, he noticed the cracked picture frame and picked it up.

"Why did you leave me Regina? I wasn't ready to let you go. I need you to come back to me. Just come back to me." He sat on the edge of the bed clutching the picture.

"I'll always love you Regina."
