The shadow career #

People at camp half-blood knew that Nico di Angelo could summon shadows and ghosts. They had seen him do it, after all. But the one thing that most of the camp didn't know was that Nico had a certain shadow. A shadow that followed him everywhere he went, a shadow that hid behind trees and cabins, watching Nico. No one in camp knew about The shadow, except for The shadow and Nico.

Nico only knew vaguely, just having the small feeling of being watched. At first, he thought that it was normal, but after a while, nobody else looked at him weirdly. He had asked Annabeth why people still stared at him though he had been there for weeks. She made it official that no one was looking at him weirdly, and hinted that maybe Nico had an admirer, to which Nico protested to.

Nico's friends knew about his shadow, and smirked every time they saw it. Jason and Percy snickered when they looked at each other, causing some very weird glances by Nico, who didn't know what was going on.

The shadow knew because it was The shadow. The shadow also knew that, sometimes, The shadow wasn't the only one. The shadow had noticed how Nico was attracting more and more attention and didn't like it one bit. The other shadows were so flaky, and The shadow didn't want Nico to get hurt by them. The shadow wanted to be there for Nico, wanted to be the one who got to comfort him.

Because the shadow wasn't a creepy perverted person. The shadow had blonde hair that shone in the sun, bright sky blue eyes that lit up every time Nico was around or in sight and was tall in a way you would imagine that he curled up out in the sun like a lazy cat. The shadow commonly brightened every time someone mentioned Nico di Angelo, but tried to hide it though failed magnificently. When the shadow wasn't following Nico, he would work in the infirmary of camp half-blood or be asleep, prepared for the next day of following.

The shadow's friends knew about his shadow-career too. Lou Ellen smiled when she caught The shadow's eyes following Nico and Cecil laughed every time when The shadow glared at someone else looking at Nico. Whenever Lou Ellen and Cecil hung out with The shadow, they would both double over laughing every time The shadow sighed when it saw Nico.

But there was something The shadow didn't know. That when The shadow was working or sleeping in the sun, he had a shadow. A shadow that smiled every time The shadow muttered in his sleep, or sang a Greek song to a patient. Every time The shadow got scolded and told to go to bed by his younger siblings when he worked too hard, his shadow would laugh slightly.

When the two shadows weren't hiding from each other, they hung out making it their jobs to make each other smile or laugh. They loved each others company, and they were always sad when they had to part.

The shadow of Nico di Angelo was Will Solace. And the shadow of Will Solace was Nico di Angelo. And it was only a matter of time until they found out about each others shadow careers.

The shadows shadowed each other, and everyone knew, except them.

There was a time when Nico was nearly caught. Will Solace often turns his head quickly, which made it difficult for Nico to do his job, even wih his advantage to call shadows.

Will was talking to a patient, when Kayla, Will's sibling, walked up behind him and asked him something. Nico wasn't prepared for Will to turn so fast, and nearly got caught because Kayla's back was to the window, where Will would be facing. Thankfully, he was already getting doen from the tree that gave him the perfect vision to look at Will Solace. Will only saw a flutter of back at the tree, and thought he was hallucinating.

Unfortunately for Nico, that meant that Will spent most of his time in the supply closet, checking his ow symptoms, in case he was getting amnesia.

There was also a time where Will nearly got caught, and that time was much worse. Becuase Nico commonly gave death glares to the people who stared at him, it gave Will a hard job of hiding from him.
