It was a day like any other, at first. Of course a normal day for me is already considerably less normal for other people. It's been eighteen long years and I have yet to get rid of the naturally-born purple hair that falls in loose curls down from my head.

Talk about a sight to see.

I was standing in line with my two best friends, Simon and Clary, to the only nightclub that would ever let any underage in. I could get into regular clubs around here since I was eighteen, minus the alcohol, but Clary and Simon were still both seventeen.

I was only allowed to say that now since today was my birthday. Did I forget to mention that?

I stalked the blue haired guy in front of me with my eyes. His eyes the same color as mine, except his were the sickening shade of Flubber, the crazy green blob in the one movie with Robin Williams. Mine were more like the color of thorns on a roses stem. Beautiful and deadly. Okay. I'm really not that egotistical but sometimes I like to pretend I'm more confident than I actually am.

He made his way into the club after boring the bouncer to no end. I don't really know why that guy let him through with a knife though, did he really not think he wouldn't hurt someone with it?

I shook my head as I looked over and saw Clary nudging Simon in the side with her elbow. I always spaced out and whenever I did, it always seemed like neither of them noticed. I mean, I get it. Simon is in love with Clary while she stares on being oblivious of everything but she can at least acknowledge me every once in a while.

I bet she didn't even notice I cut off a few inches of my hair today. Now it fell to just above where my rib cage ends at my torso. It's still pretty long but it was a noticeable difference.

We walked into the club and the first thing Clary did was go and talk to some guy that worked at the club while Simon and I trudged towards the dance floor. The dancing was my favorite part, mostly because it was the only part I could do and not care.

Simon looked down to me, he was about 7 inches taller than me as I stood at a solid 4 feet 11 inches. "You know, you may be tiny, but you have a pretty incredible voice." Oh please, don't play that bull with me, Simon. "You should go up there and sing with the band. I saw their vocalist storm off the stage when we walked in and I know you know all the words."

"Ha. Ha." I fake laughed. "You're the funniest. There is no way I'd ever sing in front of people." Of course, it was something I had always wanted to do. I looked over at the band and I could see them looking at each other, waiting for a miracle. "I'll go see if I could help them out." I looked at Simon and winked before walking off. I could hear his laugh as I walked away.

I was at the stage when one of the guys looked down and saw me. He smiled and made his way over, still playing his instrument. "Hey, I see you in here pretty often. Would you happen to be a pretty good singer and know the words to our songs?" He seemed nice, but something about him struck me as fake.

I smiled at him. "If I say yes, would you let me sing?" He nodded to me and looked back at his group. They nodded their heads in return and once he looked back, he helped me onto the stage.

Here goes nothing.

They started one of their songs over and I belted words I knew oh-so-well. It wasn't the greatest performance in the whole world but it definitely got some heads turning. I wasn't sure if it was because I was new and they were curious or because it was actually good. I didn't dare look behind me at the group in case it was bad.

I could still see into the ground even with the brights on. I saw Simon, he was in awe and when he turned to find Clary, she had already walked off somewhere else. Of course she did.

I scanned the room for her, not missing a beat of the words, and I saw her walk towards the direction of the blue haired boy and some girl with black hair. Talk about a gorgeous figure. If only I was that tall. I had the assets minus the height and to me, that seemed nothing like proportionate.

The boy had stopped and turned to me, watching me carefully. I wasn't entirely sure why but I could feel my need to walk over to him and just rip his head off. Disturbing much? The song had ended, thanking them for picking a quick song, I hopped off the stage and, walking through the applauding crowd, I walked towards Clary.

I got to the door where she was and watched as she contemplated her next move. "Clary, what are you doing?" She looked up at me, surprised.

"Oh, nothing. I just wanted to see what was happening." She took the door handle and opened the door, walking in. I sighed at her lack of morals and walked after her, hoping to not find two canoodling teens.

Of course, that's not what we found at all. I heard Clary shout at the three people in front of us as they were about to kill the blue haired boy. Something made him look nothing like a boy anymore, though. His eyes were slits, the sickening green meeting my own. I touched Clary's arm and she stopped shouting immediately. Well, shouting at them anyways.

"What are you doing?! They were about to kill the boy. You can't just let people do that, even if it risks your own life."

"Do you not see or do you not wish to see?" I asked her. She looked at me confused. I moved my hand off her arm and she looked over to the boy. "I see no boy." I don't know what's wrong with me, honestly. Whenever I get serious about something, I feel like I start talking like Yoda.

The blue haired thing lunged at the man with golden hair. He was a sight to see. His eyes were the color of his hair, golden with the look of softness. I felt like I was looking at an angel.

The boy next to him, however, looked like a confused boy who didn't know if he should be feeling the urge to bulge out of his pants at any given moment. I know the angel boy was something else but I wondered if he had the power to make people gay. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE gay people, but I was still curious.

The girl with the gorgeous proportions was attacking within a second, whipping the thing off the angel boy. He managed to get him to the ground and in the flick of an arm, the knife that blue haired thing brought into the club was inside his own chest. Stabbed into where the beating heart of a human would lie. Whether or not he had a heart, I didn't know.

Clary screamed, even though I know she didn't want to. I heard ringing in my ears. She might not have realized it, but her screams could probably kills better than that knife. Thinking of the knife, I looked over and saw the not-so-remaining remains of the blue haired boy. Nothing but damp storage room floor.

I heard the door open and I didn't have to look to know it was Simon. Clary was already running towards him. "It's nothing Simon." I could hear them talking, saying how its only the two of us in here and her explaining to him I was just playing a joke on Clary. All while I was staring at him.

I could feel his eyes bore into me like he was waiting, watching my every breath to see if I'd move even a centimeter. I wouldn't. He held his head up as if signaling to me that he got all the information he needed and to go. Clary walked up to me and grabbed my arm, "Come on, we should leave." She glanced at them and the angel boy smirked and shrugged while the girl giggled from behind. "I think our stay has been all used up."

She tugged my arm and I slowly turned to follow her. I didn't want to leave it at that though. After reaching the door, I turned back to them, all staring. I learned a few things from the anime that Simon makes us all watch. The latest fad was "Shingeki no Kyojin." (Or, Attack on Titan, if you will) and their salute was one I always admired for whatever reason. So I did what any fuck-up nerd would do and I saluted them SNK style. I saw their faces drop in confusion as I laughed out the door.

"Did you just do that?" Clary whispered to me as we walked behind Simon.

"Of course I did. Don't tell me you weren't thinking of it too." She laughed at me, still slightly hysterical from the watching of a dead demon. No one really had to tell me that was what that was, I just knew.

Somehow, knowing made me feel better. It finally felt like something that was supposed to be normal to me.
