The Chronicles of Lazarus
December, 13 1986 A New Light
A new addition to the Baker family was being made. Lazarus, son of the highly respectable Rebecca and Thomas Baker, was expected to be born in moments. Thomas was thoroughly excited and kept jumping up to the point that the doctor was annoyed and sent him out of the room. After half an hour had passed, the anxiety that Mr. Baker was experiencing was more than he could bear. As he rushed in, Rebecca had just given birth to their new son. As Tom hurried over to see his son, he was scared $t!tless to find his son had blazing red eyes. His first though was, " What will mother think?" then he ordered the doctor to keep the baby away from Rebecca, as he ran to find something. As he returned he finally decided that there was two ways to handle this. One, declare that the baby had died during birth, or two use the ancient artifact that had been passed down to him. The sword Excalibur, supposedly had been enchanted to perform certain holy cleansing on a person. Thomas remembered his father telling him of a similar story about him. When he was first born, it was discovered that his skin burned to touch. Yet it didn't burn him, but the person who touched him, scalding them. Excalibur, Thomas knew could produce some side effects even death. He decided to chance it because he nothing to lose and was going to declare his son dead anyway. In his case, when the sword was used on him there was no side effects but his father was a different story. Being possessed at birth his grandfather used the sword and it gave Thomas's father the unusual power of controlling fire at will. Knowing that not all side effects are bad he went on preparing to help his son. He approached Lazarus tentatively not knowing what exactly was the major problem and raised the sword. "Please lord, don't let me kill him" he thought. He brought the sword down with a swish and as the blade touched Lazarus's skin a blinding light engulfed the room.
