A Mother's Wonders

With motherhood comes changes,

New love collides with old.

Things which were, cannot be.

Things which mattered, cannot compare.

All she was, all is she,

Now means nothing without her.

Perceptions change, yes they do;

For now she sees for two.

Smirking eyes transform into smiles,

Emerald irises twinkling with pride;

With each moment their love expands,

Touching Lydia's world (and mine).

Words flow with adoration,

Phrases soar on unspeakable highs.

Comedic quips fizzle out in stages,

whispers cradle, sounds soothe.

Childish giggles are no longer,

grins are grounded, never poor.

Love transcends constructs of time,

Embracing ceaselessly, in mime.

Yet even with these changes,

Some things remain the same.

As to her passion,

That will never change.

As to her kind heart,

That will never be forgotten.
