Saitohimea's Man
He was a man.
Immortal maybe
but a man
And she'd lit a fire in his heart
ten times over with her hands
caressing the thin fabric of her chest,
the weak muscle of her heart –
He tried to push her away.
Really, he tried, but
he was a man after all
and she, she with her sweet honey voice
and her sweet sweet hands…
He could barely remember
the softer, paler voice
that rang true to his ears
under that shade.
He was a weak man,
but there was a crawling ant
in that honeycomb nest –
The defender of chastity:
an ant, it was a laughable thing
but he took the sting
Because
he was
a man
But
He belonged
to Saitohimea's soul
And not her body
alone.
