How do you manage to lose a child?
Daisy swore loudly, not caring who heard her, looking for her niece. Where could the girl be? Fear was already coursing through her, hoping against hope that Robin was okay.
….
Daikichi was taking Rin home from her school when he saw a little girl, perhaps four or five years old, sobbing fit to burst, a cat sat next to her. He wanted to see if she was okay but Rin beat him to it.
"Are you okay?"
The girl looked at her as if she didn't understand, and Daikichi blinked suddenly. Could it be a European child? She certainly looked like it, and he wouldn't be surprised if she didn't speak much Japanese at all.
"She asked, Are you alright?" he translated, having once had to learn English to a good deal of skill for business. The child sniffled and hiccupped, babbling.
Oh great. He'd learned business English, but how was he meant to speak crying English child? Rin was already crouching down and had hugged the small child, who was seemingly comforted.
"I'm Robin…" she hiccupped finally, and a yell of panic echoed around the buildings. A woman ran up, scooping the small blonde into her arms and started talking in fast English, before turning to Daikichi.
"Thank you very much, my niece will let go of my hand sometimes…thank you, thanks to your daughter as well…"
Daikichi held up his hands to stop the onslaught of gratitude. "Ah, it's nothing."
The woman put the child down and bowed, before tugging her niece along to a nearby house where she evidently lived. Rin tugged at Daikichi's sleeve.
"Can we go visit Robin-chan sometime?"
Daikichi nodded, staring slightly after the woman and her niece.
