Alex and Gene-Shock

A/N

So hello, this is my first Ashes To Ashes fic-I've recently (as in last Thursday recently) begun to watch it and I'm addicted! Oneshot.

Reviews would be lovely!

Alex Drake had never been so shocked in her life. Apart from, that is, when she woke up in 1981 and met Gene. And fainted. God, even in 2008, he'd never let her get over that. Bloody Mr Hunt.

Speaking of which, she and aforementioned Mr Hunt had gotten together after her parents had died in front of her. One thing obviously led to another, and when they fell asleep together, they woke up in 2008. Alex was unhurt, her Iphone buzzing on her bedside table, and Gene was grumbling, wanting a cigarette.

Somehow, Shaz, Ray, and Chris came to the future as well. When Gene and Alex arrived at work, Chris was receiving a telling off from Shaz because he was smoking in the office (banned in the present day) and Ray was eating a pork pie and asking where the Guv was.

It had taken the motley crew a while to adjust to the present, but they'd managed. Alex didn't speak much to Evan anymore, much to Molly's distress. She did like Gene, though, and often took the mick out of him, much to his horror.

Alex had been feeling out of sorts recently, and had been shouting at Gene more often than usual.

The DI suspected she was pregnant, but brushed her hopes off, thinking she was just hormonal. She hadn't said a work to Gene, the only person who knew about it was Shaz. The young copper had been delighted for Alex, and had encouraged her to tell Gene before he had his suspicions.

Alex had finally, partly, given in and had bought a pregnancy test. She had taken it, and it was indeed, positive. She was going to be a mother (again), Molly a sister, and Gene... well, Gene was going to be a dad.

The two hadn't discussed children, but Gene doted on Molly. Alex took this to be a good sign, but surely he wouldn't want to be with her through her moods swings, morning sickness, and inevitable bad moods?

The sound of the front door opening made her jump. She was sat on the sofa, still holding the test.

"Bolly? Alex?" Gene called.

"Yeah, in here." Alex replied.

Gene entered the room and sat down next to his partner.

"What the bloody 'ell's that?" He asked, pointing at the test.

"It's um..." Alex broke off.

"Don't take on so" Gene said, pulling her close. "Surely it ain't that bad?"

"I'm pregnant." She repied, and promptly burst into tears.

"What? I'm gonna be a dad?"

"It looks that way." Alex nodded.

"That's great news." Said Gene, and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

"Excuse me?" Alex scoffed.

"Don't look so sure, I'm actually 'appy about it for once."

"Really?"

"Yeah, a baby, you and me? Really?"

"Yes really" Alex laughed through her tears.

Gene kissed her gently. "Can we tell Molly?"

"Yeah, okay. I can't believe you're taking it so well."

"Well, I am. And when can we go to the hospital to get you checked out?"

"I knew you'd be protective of me." Alex sighed-she wouldn't be allowed to do anything for the next nine months!

"That's cause I love you, Bolls."

The End :-) x
