Prophecy of the Dragonborn
Circa - 240 1st Era
We believed them defeated, vanquished along with their master, but the Elder Scrolls warned us of their return. Their defeat was merely delay, our victory was not final. They would return and bring with them the end of all things.
The prophecy of the Elder Scrolls was forgotten long ago, and truth faded into legend, then into myth. But the truth would dawn again on the world, and when it dawned, it would dawn in fire.
They would be the harbingers of the end-times, but the gods would give to us a child of Akatosh, akin to the World-Eater, to shield us from Oblivion. This champion would rise and fight the World-Eater in the hall of kings, and they would be our last and only hope of survival.
But the fire that made the bite of the World-Eater vicious would not be easily contained within Man, and the Child of Akatosh could become another World-Eater if not properly contained. Even if the Child of Akatosh succeeded, they would be catalyst of change in the world.
When the Sons of Skyrim spilled their own blood, our Champion would be found among them, and the will of the Champion would guide more things than any other could touch. They would control people, soldiers, kings, queens, Daedra, the Elder Scrolls, and history itself with a power beyond men.
This is the prophecy of the enemy of the Destroyers, in their tongue, they call this one Dovahkiin, but to men they are the Dragonborn, savior of the World.
