Ginny giggles when five-year old Lily Luna smears her peas all over her face. "I love Fridays," she says, looking around at her gathered family before taking a napkin to dap at Lily's cheeks and nose.
Charlie laughs uproariously. He spoons some potatoes onto James Sirius's plate. "Friday is my second favourite F-Word!"
"Do you have to be so vulgar?"
"What - I didn't actually say it..." Charlie pouts.
Ginny rolls her eyes. "Behave, Charlie. There are impressionable children in the vicinity."
"Yeah, impressionable, Uncle Charlie." Teddy smirks, a twinkle in his eyes.
"I'm not allowed to have any fun," Charlie mutters.
Ginny looks around the large table, sighing contently. The only thing she sees are happy faces. It's a whole family gathering for Friday night dinner, especially since the holidays are rapidly approaching. Everyone's here, all of the Weasleys, their spouses, and children. Even Teddy and Andromeda, as honorary Weasleys, are here.
It's a happy night, indeed.
After dinner, everyone gathers in the living room. Angelina takes the kids and they all sit around her in a circle, even the older ones. "What are you doing?" Hermione asks.
Angelina smiles sweetly. "I thought I'd tell them the story of Jack Frost, just to get them in the mood for Christmas."
"They're always in the mood for Christmas, as long as they know they're getting presents," Ron remarks.
Angelina shrugs. "They seem interested in the story."
The adults all talk in huddled groups while Angelina tells the story. The children's laughter draws everyone's attention and eventually they gravitate towards Angelina's group. Ginny and Harry sit on the floor together. Harry's arm is secure around her, and Ginny rests her head on his shoulder. She allows herself to feel safe and happy.
This is why they fought in the war as children. They fought for the peace and safety that they're children now had and probably took for granted.
She looks around the room, and like always, Fred's absence is noticeable, but she knows he died for a noble cause. Just like she knows they if he had to die, he wouldn't want to go any other way.
She allows a stray tear to roll down her cheeks at the thought of Fred, but quickly and discretely wipes it away before anyone can notice.
She let's Angelina's musical voice lull her to a light doze, trusting Harry to wake up when it's time.
